I was just swinging through the Beer Talk and saw a conversation about the old Piels beer. Made me curious: What is the first beer you had? Don't think, "Well, the night I turned 21", but, "When I was a toddler, Grandpa gave me a sip of..."! For me, it may well have been Black Label, as I had a picture of my Dad holding me in one hand as a baby, and one of those in the other. In living memory though, he had changed over to (original) PBR by then, so that would be mine. How about you?

i don't remember the name of my first beer sadly. it was some pumpkin beer a buddy snagged from next to the steel reserve at a shady gas station. appealing combo of things there obviously, no gods could save whatever the hell that was and make it taste good. would love to find it again
the first beer i remember the name of was blue moon, and after putting down like 3 cases worth of that i decided i liked beer

Well . . . the memory of my first sip was around 1962 . . . at the age of 5. Family crab feast down on the Chesapeake. They always had a keg . . . Irish descent. Can't remember the brand, but at that time and through the '60s, they were drinking one of the three . . . Natty Boh, Gunther or Black Label. With my mother's side being of German descent, it was not unusual to get a sip before my teen years.

I was 18 and was handed a Miller High Life at a party. I thought it was awful and was determined I would never like beer....

Heineken, I believe. Daddy let me sip on it when I was about 14.

I was eleven or twelve and stole a can of Utica Club Bock from the fridge.
Couldn't figure out how the grown ups liked this stuff.

Rainier back in like 1982, my pops would always have a few on fish & chips nights when I was a kid and sometimes would give me one while he was frying up dinner.

My uncle gave me a can of Fall's City when I was ten years old back in the 1970s.

The first time I ever drank beer was also the first time I got drunk I split a 12 pack with a couple friends and it was Milwaukee's Best or as we called it "beast". On a semi-related note my first cigarette was an unfiltered Pall Mall which made me vomit after the first couple hits and I didn't smoke another cigarette for years after that. Oddly enough I didn't get sick the first time I got drank.

Blue Moon is a good go to in places where more volatile beers aren't served. Cheers!

My dad's side was a beer family, with fans of PBR, Falstaff, Drewrys... even Strohs! Cheers!

I wish I could say Pabst Blue Ribbon because of my emotional attachment to that beer, having grown up in Milwaukee, WI, but it was actually Michelob, at Red Lobster, and I loved it!

I wasn't real enthralled back then, either. Bock is kinda sophisticated for that age! Cheers!

Weren't they the ones that made Billy Beer? My brother was the closest to a beer connoisseur back then, and he took one sip and poured it out...

I didn't either, but a few months later, a night called "the Big Night" continues to live in infamy...
