I am curious how people will self regulate themselves back on line in the morning.

"if you're not in line by 11PM the night before the release, you may not get it"

It's February in NY in 2020.....this has to be damn near - if not - rock bottom. This some "tickle me Elmo" bullshit.

This is true about the cops showing up. Apparently some residents complained or something. Although there’s a lot of potential “fake news” floating around out there now too. Totally crazy though. Apparently the wristbands handed out are well into the 260s but those people are guaranteed the ba Bananaversary still. People need to step back and realize this is just beer...

I heard a gun was pulled. Not there, just saying what someone said

What a fucking joke. Im in the 250's and while they said i'd be fine it was lovely to hear Andrew whine about how he was supposed to leave at 6 to be with his kid but the line was too crazy. Not like he can do anything about that...

If they knew the line was insane at 6pm why not hand out wristbands then or at least let people know before midnight? Nope, much better to keep the people who drove in drinking in the taproom, then make them sleep in their cars for 7 hours.

Andrew is a good guy, he does really try his best to make as many people happy as he can. I'm hoping this is a wake up call for future anniversaries so that they are run more smoothly. Its only gotten crazier each year and it seems like we've finally hit the breaking point.

Dumb question. Wouldn’t it have been much easier to just start handing out wristbands as soon as the first person out a chair down?

Or do some type of presale type thing online or whatever with a requirement of being there by a specific time to pick up your wristband or “check in”

Welcome to the new OH....where Friday evenings have become the new Saturday mornings.

Time is a flat circle, indeed.

From the amount of people on line, to the amount of money they probably have on them....they’re like sitting ducks there, in the dark too.

This is so funny. Wristbands at 11 for a release at 10am when there have been colder anniversary and other hyped release nights. So many suggestions that many other breweries do(lower allotments, vocally discourage lining up too early and drinking in public) on how to curb a release that would easily sellout at 1-2 4-packs pp anyway. But instead they’ve leaned into that specific fan base.

I love OH, will continue to, and I know they work their butts off, but they dug their own hole on this one. It’d be great if the anniversary cans could last through the weekend, but these releases have always catered to line life as if it were still 2+ years ago.

Fake because nobody would be dumb enough to pull a gun in NYC 2020.

Ardmore might be harder then NYC these days. It might of been about a year ago but I went with my family to Tired Hands and we had to park a few blocks away. We noticed a man on the corner with a large bulge on his waist he must of had a 45/ or desert eagle or some shit. The dude was obviously out of town(Yankees cap) and we all admired his large gun as we walked past. Just a regular Saturday in the "burbs."

Not to mention “taproom open all night for people to use the bathroom!” - way to make it easy on them. Although I guess if they’re pot committed, better that than people pissing on the street (though I’m sure there was plenty of that anyway).

Which brings me to my point, which is that if this was a truly 100% industrial area, then if people wanted to line up for over a day in advance then whatever. But there are some homes along there. Encouraging people to line up 24 hours in advance is a dick move. I walked along Garnet last night. Lots of empty chairs. But still a lot occupied with people hanging out and drinking. Including in one case, the guy and his chair practically parked in front of someone’s front door. I’m actually surprised there are not more complaints. Maybe it’s just they don’t have the same pull that say would happen if this was 3rd Street in Park Slope. I dunno. Either way it’s unfair.

Finally - sort of tying that with the gun thing. If you look at the Hazeboiz Instagram account there’s an alleged first person recounting of the gun incident. Supposedly an Airbnb user. Hard to believe anything on the internet though.

Edit - also in the Hazoboiz Instagram stories we get a shout out. Maybe we’ve found a common enemy in chairboiz

Gun story confirmed by cancer-curing can-photographer Anthony. Although I’m proud our normally active posters here are not #linelyfers, it would make for great thread entertainment if we had a reporter there to capture whatever it is that is happening right now. I nominate @jrnyc so that the next time a gun gets pulled he can lash out with his whip and knock that fool back into the stone ages.

For lurkers and third degree beer smokers, John’s old exploits in the 1800s are the mythical legend Indiana Jones is based off of. Completely true story.
