It will be unnecessarily slammed at open even though everything will last at least a day.

Last major release I went to last month walked in after opening in Canton at 12:30-1pm and it was apparent they had the line ropes ready for a big crowd, but there was only one person ordering at the counter when I turned the corner.

Do people really still go nuts for new Trillium releases and wait in long lines? The gap has been closed over the last few years - no lines down in my neck of the woods for comparable stuff (if not better). Check out Long Live in Providence, Proclamation a little further down in Warwick. Proc banned dogs too so no worries during busy times.

(I'm still a Trillium fan BTW)

I got 4 different IPA's in cans when I was there and they have all tasted exactly the same. Meh.

    Thank god they sell singles.

I was in the neighborhood, so I swung by and grabbed some cans. I was there around 11:15 and there was no line.

Also, maybe old news, but I hadn’t been there in a while: when they opened the Trader Joe’s next door, they created a dozen or so 15-minute parking spaces for Thompson Place retail. According to the Trillium people, their customers are allowed to park there.

Been saying for a while, Canton is the worst taproom experience I've encountered. It's halfway between Boston & Providence, so I'll meet people there sometimes, but I just shake my head everytime. I'm trying to get Castle Island as the meet-up spot instead. Laid back warehouse vibe.

I love Long Live but I find myself skipping Proc more and more. Buttonwoods is pushing the envelope a little and making some really good stuff.

Interesting. I should have mentioned Buttonwoods as well. Quality stuff and I agree a little more innovative than the others.

Can somebody expound on why Canton is a bad experience? I’ve been once and it was empty but haven’t been back

I think it’s mostly bad on the weekends when it gets overrun with dogs and kids. The space wasn’t meant to accommodate wall to wall people, little people, and animals.

It of course had it's rough busy times here and there since open (especially on weekends), but the past year or less has had this weird explosion of kids and dogs. I'll bring my small, quiet dog here and there, but now it's to the point where I get a pour, my cans, and go.

Not sure what happened as of late that resulted in the huge influx, but it's made the experience pretty insufferable at times. Luckily there are plenty of other times to go and avoid it, and the Fort Point location is still great as ever.

Yeah this sounds awful. The best tap rooms around right now are large rooms with multiple long/picnic tables. These are the places that can handle the kids/dogs and make it feel less like a daycare

This is, also, beer in 2020 and if you can’t handle the kids and dogs, don’t dream of a Saturday/Sunday leisurely beer in a quiet taproom cause that shit ain’t happenin

The only time I went to Canton for a pour, some pastry stout, it was on a drive home from NH on a weekend and it was the worst beer drinking experience of my life. Same complaints as others: super loud, dogs and kids everywhere, and sort of awkward line experience to get a beer.

I don't mind kids and dogs, but when you're in a tight space and they're yelling and barking at each other constantly, it's a nightmare.

It is the old saying - no one goes there any more because it is too crowded.

Like anything, it depends on your personal preferences.

I went to Canton today. Got there around 2ish and there were maybe a dozen people in the building enjoying pours. No line for pours or to go. I understand I was there at an off peak time but the same can be said for Tree House. Weekends are crazy at both Trillium and Tree House

If a 'chill vibe' is what you're looking for, go to less hyped breweries on the weekends and Trill/TH during the week.

Dead around 2ish at Fort Point. Scaled Way Up is great, about as good as I remember it. Will probably grab another 4 pack next week if it's still around.

Canton was designed in the days of epic can release lines, and I think they prioritized getting people in and out of those lines. Now that the can hype has died and the dog/baby numbers have skyrocketed, the brewery is just not capable of providing a comfortable experience. I wish it could be more like Notch, which somehow accommodates huge amounts of people without feeling like I’m crammed on the T while trying to drink my beer.
