If the kick-off party was $75 for 2.5 hours, it would almost shock me if they didn’t raise the price of the anniversary price to $100. They must figure if Disneyland can get away with this practice, any one can.

$100 is on par with similar festivals, though. I would imagine that the new venue may be more expensive than the Phoenix Club as well.

Have festivals gotten that out of control??? I haven’t been to one in quite some time.

Yeah this festival hasn’t been worth it’s cost maybe ever, let alone now. But $110 for one extra hour? I question the intelligence of anyone who purchased one of those.

FWIBF, is well worth the cost. I didn't even get a ticket this year and may just go for the shares. Of coarse, tickets open up as it gets closer so I may still get a ticket.

I do agree VIP is not worth it. This coming ftom a guy that goes VIP by default. Mostly because FWIBF, is about the beer advocate community deceding on a small town with more great beer then they know what to do with. Its an incredible convergence of breweries and the BA community. So with all the shares, VIP is not neccesary.

As for the Bruery Anniversary festival, I'll be honest, The Bruery's reputation amongst the beer advocates I know (and I know many in the real world, not just online) has taken a hit. That's coming from a supporter, a Hoarder, and someone that guininely likes thier beer. However, the festival is still highly regarded.

    $100 is OK.

    But make it worth it.

If the food at Bruery Anniversary was anywhere close to FWIBF, then yeah $100 is totally worth it. It's been a far cry the last few years though where I didn't bother eating.

The first couple years, the FWIBF was worth the cost to me. But the last couple times I’ve gone, the food has been the best part, the attendance feels like it’s grown to the point of lines being way too long, and the hype breweries have been mostly letdowns.

The beer nerd “community” may be a plus for some, but it’s been disappointing to me the last few events I’ve attended. All is well and good within this so called community so long as no one mentions all the line cutting and general cut-throat mentality when it comes to trying stuff. A lot of them aren’t even in it for the beer anymore. This is probably my “OK boomer” moment for today, but I don’t attend many festivals anymore because of the other people that also attend.

Unfortunately I'm in total agreement with you for many of the last few beer festivals and events I've been to. Whereas years ago it seems people were laidback and giving advice to what beers to try I see too much of a change to let me get that latest beer of the moment before it runs out:rolling_eyes: I'm good though because I know "it's just beer" and my evolving homebrewing skills let's me do my own thing!

Standing in line at FWIBF is doing FWIBF wrong. So many great beers with no line throughout the entire fest.

Not really. Firestone Walker Invitational is $90. That’s my personal gold standard, and they clearly have the food offerings figured out.

From my experience at the most recent one I attended a couple years ago, that’s all they had figured out.

I still use mine on a semi-regular basis. The nail is loose and I have to cover the head with my thumb, but it still works. I prefer my bottle shark opener from the following year.
