Other than Fun Size, they have largely flown under the radar and I haven't heard anything about them. I was shocked to hear they had locations in Lemont, Roselle, and St. Charles. Good for them!

This is not the right place but that's OK, has anyone tried the Sierra Nevada 40th anniversary beer? Seen it popping up at places...

 

I didn’t even know about this, but I’m very excited to pick up a sixer of it now. Thanks for mentioning it!

 

Buy it at a place that stores it cold. It’s absolutely beautiful. It’s got a hair less malt support than SNPA or torpedo, and a little bit brighter aroma. It’s an instant classic.

 

No it is definitely a different beer. Good stuff.

Not a new beer, but new packaging and more importantly "The first beer in our seasonally rotating Master Lager Collection" Have at it Lagerheads

 

I think this was the dortmunder lager they made last year. It was pretty good

I actually love the idea of master lager project. More excitement about one off lagers should be good for the market

 

Roaring Table Brewing just released a really nice Helles Lager, called Butterfly Tsunami. They started self distro recently, so you should be able to find it in the wild at a number of bottle shops, as well as their taproom in Lake Zurich.

 

Thanks for the tip. Picked up a 4pk this weekend from the taproom and really enjoyed it. Read that a pilsner is up next for self distro in April. Looking forward to trying that one.

What are peoples thoughts on Kinslahger beers? I am a huge fan of Dovetail and am curious how Kinslahger stacks up in comparison...

 

I'll agree with what FBarber said. I almost moved to Berwyn before I settled on Portage Park, so that was a place we'd hit up while looking at houses. Its a cool little taproom (its quite small, and also family friendly). But I definitely think they have some quality lagers, just not at Dovetail's level (not even Metropolitan level imo). But they have a Sauvin Blanc brut lager that is out of this world drinkable. I would have my fridge stocked with it all summer if my local shops got distribution.

 

Cashmere Pulsaki from Maplewood is really darn good.
