I've noticed that a lot of their beers have a decent amount of sediment at the bottom of the can, due to being unfiltered. I've started to leave an ounce or two in the can when pouring and the beer has better clarity. (I'll swig what's left straight out of the can). Not sure if it has any effect on flavor but personally I feel like it makes for a better drinking experience. I'd like to do a side-by-side one time to see if it's just mental or if there actually is a difference.

I've definitely had beers from them in the past that were clear though. I wonder why there's a difference. Batch to batch variability?

If people are reporting sediment at the bottom of cans, it could be something as simple as how the cans were treated/stored. If they were shaken, you might see some haze due to suspension, or if the cans were stored lengthwise?

edit: and no, I'm not saying people are shaking them intentionally...

@Jacobier10 apparently we've been down this road before, just this past fall...

Ha! You know, as I was writing my post to you I had a vague recollection of discussing the issue before but couldn't remember who it was with. I guess if you chat enough on these boards there's bound to be overlap at some point. At least I'm consistent.

What's the word about the Wegman's collaboration using their donut shop blend coffee?

That is Springdale's Brig with Wegman's coffee blend instead of the normal coffee we use. It should be going out to most Wegman's in 2-3 weeks.

Agree, had it at JA last night and left with a 4 pack as well. Just a perfect crisp drinkable beer

I went to give German Style Porter a review and realized I reviewed this beer last year under the name Heavy Trommel. I liked it so much that I plan on buying another 4 pack.
Another hit from the Keller series.

I've seen that before, but according to the website they are two different beers. They have different descriptions and Trommel has a slightly lower ABV.

It's the same beer. Earlier in this thread @JacksAbbyBrewing said they're stripping the names from the Keller series this year because they were confusing people.

JA confirmed it is the same beer. It still needs a review under the new badge
JA confirmed that it's the same beer and it looks like the reviews have been merged under the new name.

I don't get out to Jacks all that often but I'm hoping I do soon. Outside of their beer hall being an awesome experience in general I would to see how this compares to Cerne Pivo from Notch.

For anyone not on their email list, they just sent this message out about precautions being taken at the brewery. Seems like practical and targeted changes that won't be too disruptive (although staff is going to get awfully tired of wiping down ketchup bottles....).

    ===================================
    Dear Friend of Jack's Abby,

We wanted to write to you today to let you know that we are taking the situation with COVID-19 extremely seriously. The safety and health of our staff and our guests is always a top priority only highlighted in situations such as these. Our business is about community and connections which is why we are exercising an abundance of caution and taking extra steps to ensure we have the safest environment possible. Some steps we are taking:

    • Beginning immediately we are switching from our community seating model to a table seating model. This will allow us to sanitize spaces more thoroughly between guests. The bar will remain open seating and staff will work to keep this area as sanitary as possible.

    • Our tables will no longer have caddies, menus and silverware buckets. Staff will bring these to you when seated.

    • All menus, condiments etc. will be sanitized between guests as well.

    • High touch areas will be cleaned and sanitized on schedule throughout the day, in addition to deep cleaning on a nightly basis.

    • Tours are being suspended until further notice.

    • Our staff already does an extraordinary job cleaning the environment at the end of each day and we will continue to uphold the highest standards in our space.

We hope these steps bring you some comfort and assurance of our effort to keep you happy and healthy. Similarly, we ask all of our patrons to be extra responsible as well. If you are even slightly ill or worried about being in contact with someone who is then please exercise the same caution and avoid coming to the brewery.

We believe during these challenging times that relaxing with friends and a beer is an important social and mental activity, and we believe it’s incumbent upon us to continue to provide this to our friends in the safest way possible. Our staff is going above and beyond all recommendations to ensure the health and safety of everyone we engage with on a daily basis.

We hope that you find comfort in our effort and respite in our space.

    Sincerely,

    Jack, Eric, Sam Hendler

Brato posted something similar on Instagram. It will be interesting to see how much CV affects local businesses. Obviously, it's affecting them already.
