Vitamin Sea (2020)

Wow! I am headed to a wedding in Cohasset tonight and was thinking of trying to stop by but will be skipping it. Not into the line thing these days, especially in the chilly weather. I hope all those that go have fun and I do look forward to trying their beer at some point in the near future.

 

Arrived at 2. They had already kicked 3 beers; 4 beers by 3:30. Not ideal.

 

Is there a way to see who has Vitamin Sea on tap? I might have missed it but I couldn't find anything on their website.

 

I, also, have never seen an "on tap" list. Within striking distance, I know of only Stars in downtown Hingham. And that's not on the regular.

 

The Parrot in Hull has a rotating Vitamin Sea tap. Expensive though at $10 for a 12 oz pour. I generally just end up getting the full pint of Fiddlehead for $7.

I wonder why they don't have anything on their site. I have no idea what the process is for a bar to get a keg from a small but popular brewery. Perhaps that has something to do with it but I still thought they would have a list of "regular" establishments.

I had Vitamin Sea beers at British Beer Co in Franklin last summer, but don't see anything on there currently.

 

Has anyone else had Wild at Sea yet? It was released this past Saturday along with Kettle Charge.

It was a collab and they said it "pushes the limits" of the mouthfeel of their beers.

I just drank a can and I have no idea what they did to "push the limits" but it's the most absurd mouthfeel I've ever had. It's literally a hop milkshake. The beer itself is very good, nothing over the top flavor-wise. But I just can't get over how thicccc this is. Imagine the thickest, chewiest, creamiest stout you've ever had and turn it into a NEIPA. Ridiculous.

Just had to get that off my chest. Carry on.

I don't know a lot about Vitamin Sea but they seem to do more collaborations than any brewery I have ever seen. Is that something they set out to do from the start? Have they said it is an actual focus of their brewing?

 

It’s certainly not how we planned things but we’ve been blessed to have so many great people ask us to collab. We learn a lot while spending the day with friends. There’s an amazing sharing of information and processes.

I had this on draft at the brewery and i can say I’ve easily never had anything close to this from any of the major NE breweries. Just completely mouth coating in a way that’s hard to explain.

 

You should check out Equilibrium Brewing. I swear 80% of their beers are collabs.
