I'm thinking about a daytrip to Seattle sometime in the next couple weeks, with the purpose of hitting some breweries I haven't hit before. Old Stove is a likely target. Is it easy to find, or is it buried in the depths of the market? The google view was a bit confusing. Also, what else should i hit?

Old Stove has a spot in the market expansion overlooking the Sound. Easy to find.

Might as well hit Cloudburst since it’s in the same area. And Fair Isle just opened (Weds-Sun) so hit them up in Ballard.

There are two Old Stove spots --- the original spot now called "Taproom" that faces First Avenue and the new bigger and better space that you get to off of Western Avenue. Both are easy to access.

Stopped in at Fair Isle yesterday and loved it. Great space, great saisons and what appeared to be an incredibly solid list of guest taps and wine pours.

Holy Mountain released Midnight Still yesterday. What? Don't we hype beers around here anymore?

As it should be. Leave the shitlording to the shitlords. I went to Fair Isle instead with my wife and drank saisons.

    The day this forum
    resumes hyping beers is when
    it squanders its soul.

And today I drank Cantillon on draft in the city and no one gave a shit. Just say no to hype.

    I hype local beers
The only way I know how:
    Buy 'em and drink 'em.

    Oh sure, there are times
    I also recommend 'em.
    I'm not sure that's hype.

    Is it hype if you
    Recommend beers to locals?
    Is it? I don't know.

    Once upon a time,
a few "rare" stouts got hyped here.
    Praise be that's all past.

I ended up grabbing a pour of Midnight Still on Saturday. The taproom was absolutely packed, and of course bottles were gone, but it's a mighty fine beer. I got quite a bit of residual sugar on the finish though, don't recall it being so flabby...

Ended up with a 4 pack of Three Fates and am more than happy with that.

I attempted to go to Fair Isle on Saturday night with my dog. Rudely turned away with a “no pets” sign on the door. Looks like I’ll be visiting Fair Isle as frequently as I do Holy Mountain (which is infrequently).

Dogs are allowed outside on the patio. Better than nothing.

I noticed that. Didn’t help in the rain.

Are there very many places in the Seattle area that allow dogs inside?

Most places here in Portland, if they allow dogs at all, only allow them out on the porch or patio (other than service dogs). One place near me (NW Growlers), that used to be VERY dog friendly, recently stopped allowing them on the premises for one reason or another (I asked, but all I was told was that there was a problem and they had to change their policy - they now only allow service dogs). I honestly wouldn't know where to go if I planned to stay inside at some pub or restaurant, and wanted to have my dog with me (Belmont Station is probably the best bet, as at least their dog friendly patio is covered).

Just naming a few places in Ballard (near Fair Isle) off the top of my head that allow dogs inside --- Stoup, Reuben's (both spots), Lucky Envelope, Obec, King's Hardware

And looking at just the places on this 'Visiting Seattle' thread, here are the places (not mentioned previously) that I know for sure allow dogs inside --- Fremont, Seapine, Urban Family, Ravenna, Beveridge Place Pub, Bottleworks, Chuck's Hop Shop (both spots), Last Drop Bottle Shop, and Draft Punk. There could be others but I can't say for sure. I know the places I mentioned because I frequent all of them with my dog.

In Bellingham the only breweries that don't allow dogs inside are the ones with on-site kitchens, and both Kulshan locations (but they do allow dogs outside).

"Rudely?" That's an odd choice of word.

Businesses with alcohol licenses are under no obligation to accommodate customers with dogs in tow. Many places (as you noted) in Seattle do, and that's great, but to be chagrined by those places that don't seems a little strange. Frankly, it smacks of entitlement.

I like seeing well-behaved dogs at a taproom/bar, but I've had enough bad experiences with them or their owners to know why a propietor might want to establish a different kind of atmosphere. And why some customers would also prefer the same. There ain't no rudeness in that.
