    What? Epitome?

They had SIX TOP 40 HITS in the US of A for Krise Sake. And a bunch of Top 100 as well.
    Get your history together Brother.

When enjoying a beer for the first time that is likely to have sediment I pour most of the beer and see how it smells, tastes and looks and then pour the rest and see how it is.
In this case I would have to say no to swirling. On a revisit, maybe.

I ALWAYS pour 2/3rds of the beer, swirl the remaining and top off the glass. Especially with NE IPAs. That’s where all the good stuff is!

I stand corrected, I guess they left their mark for a couple of years, like Frankie Goes to Hollywood and Flock of Seagulls. When will they be touring?

I actually bought the Cargo album and played it for a while. I blame MTV for my indifference toward them.

But the post I was replying to wasn’t specifically talking about NEIPAs.

I typically do not but I have in the past. I guess its not something I feel you need to do to enjoy the beer and its flavors. If you want all the chunk and goodness I see zero harm. I feel it won't change anything other than appearance and texture possibly.

Well you can carbonate a beer without going through bottle-conditionning.
So if you bottle condition your beers either you want it to evolve in the bottle and then the yeast is a whole part of the beer so my opinion is it's supposed to be consumed. Or you want the beer to have a pronounced yeast character, so it's supposed to be consumed.

In any way, the question hear was about NEIPA. So first off I do not know a lot of bottle conditioned NEIPAs. But let's imagine, you've got a bottle conditioned NEIPA. they aren't meant to be cellared so the first option is out of the table, the second option could be interesting, the yeast is a very important part of a NEIPA, so I think you should consume it.
Also in many NEIPAs it's not just yeast you've got in the bottom of the can but mostly proteins (from the yeast or the malt) and some hop bits.

In any way I feel the same way for any kind of beer. But that's my opinion!

Of course and I guess my point was I'm not disagreeing with what you stated.

I still have the vinyl. The video is pretty damn funny. He is drinking a beer in the first scene.
    Trivia question: What is it?

    Fosters?

As far as swirling, that would be a "Ah...no".

The opening sequence is bongo beer bottles. They appear to be Coopers.

Midway there is the wild pouring of Fosters. Fosters is Australia's best known export beer but not nearly as popular at home. It is probably not by accident that they used Fosters to depict a goofy prototypical Australian man (though to be fair the guy is actually described as being from Brussels. The drinkers are Aussie though.)

The song is sort of tongue in cheek but meant to poke fun at the stereo-typical "Down Under" culture that took off at the time. They were commenting on the general absurdity of having an entire countries personality and relevance distilled into a few marketing tropes.

The irony is that the song itself became one of the most recognizable synonyms with Australian culture itself. C'est la vie.

Check out the tragic life of Greg Ham and his battle with copyright infringement related to the song Down Under.

No, don't swirl Fosters or Coopers. I mean do whatever the hell you want, but it's not going to make these supremely mediocre fizzy yellow lagers any better.
    Cheers

I know that story and Im actually speaking about the video I posted which is " Who could it be now" which I believe you are correct it is a Coopers bottle of beer. And the fact that Fosters hasn't been brewed in Australia in forever- last time I checked it was Canada, just adds to the story.
I would have to say Midnight Oil is truly a great story and band itself. Peter Garret is one of the worlds great environmentalists and was also a member of the house in Australia. Thats a story. And I dig the political anti authoritarianism vibe of the band.
No I will not be swirling either beer. And the intent of the thread was to get realistic opinions on that topic. Obviously not many are going to be swirling lagers. But from what Ive read so far opinions are about split. And thats all they are is opinions. Cheers
