Hard to say. Rocoe's is usually pretty laid back and chill, so it might last for a while. If you could get over their fairly early in the day, there's a good chance it will still be on.

Otherwise, I'm fairly certain that both Orenco's taphouse and NWIPA will have it on tap Saturday for their TIPA events. Last year NWIPA was limiting participants to one glass per customer, so my guess is that it should last for a while this year as well. Assuming they have it on tap (I'll be surprised if they don't - but they haven't officially announced it yet).

Or you could drive over to Pacific City and get a couple glasses at Twist. I think they're tapping their keg tomorrow, and last year the keg lasted for several days (as they were limiting customers to two glasses per day).

    Good luck.

How's the 02/05/2020 bottling tasting? Just got mine and will drink tomorrow. I figured under a month is best. Will an experienced Younger drinker chime in? Elder holds up pretty well until 1.5 months or so. What about Younger?

Younger has never been bottled before, right? I don't know that there is any Younger comparisons out there - maybe just follow whatever guidelines you apply to other TIPAs?

I would drink it as fresh as possible. There was one year where I got to try Younger at 3 different places, over the course of just over a month (first in Santa Rosa during release week; then a couple weeks later in Portland, and then a couple weeks later at a ticketed event in the Philly area). While it tasted great every place I tried it, the pour I had in Philly was probably the least impressive. The hops just didn't seem to be as intensely in your face as they were in Santa Rosa and Portland.

That being said, I think it should still be pretty damn good after a month and a half in bottle. Enjoy!

I just enjoyed a bottled PtY a few minutes ago and I think it's already beginning to fall off. I noticed an edge I hadn't tasted before. As for PtE, I've always thought 3 weeks was optimum. Age your cheese, not your Pliny.

This year's batch is tasting really good. I want to say I first tried it in 2009 and have been able to taste almost every year since. I know I’ve had it at Belmont, Horse Brass, Roscoe’s, Saraveza, and Side Street, which is where I was last night. Possibly had it elsewhere, but can’t completely recall. Anyways, in years past it’s been a little boozy. Don’t recall it ever being too sweet, maybe a little too bitter. This year's seemed to strike a nice balance of floral/bitter that you’d expect from a really good Pliny. Almost no booziness.

In this day and age with so many great option available, I don’t know if it’s worth going way out of the way for, but if you can get a taste with minimal hassle or just enjoy the camaraderie of tasting a sought after beer with a large group of fellow beer drinkers, it’s definitely worth it.

I read on the tap menu where I last had Younger in Anaheim that this year, Vinnie added a little bit of Nelson. Wonder if that made a difference.

Correction. NWIPA just indicated that they do not have a keg of younger this year.

Fyi cracked the 2/5 bottle and it was superb! Lived up to the hype. Very tropical nose and smooth for a TIPA. I'm happy.

The taplist at Orenco is live and is very worthy with 7 triple IPAs. Tank Slapper, pFreim, Notorious, Logical Choice, 3x from Grains of Wrath and Aslan.

Shoot. I was just planning on grabbing my first taste of Younger since 2008 or thereabouts, but I might not be able to pass up the chance to try it against Tank Slapper and pFriem. Hmmm.

(The wife and I are meeting friends for beers later, otherwise I'd happily get settled in at Orenco for the afternoon.)

Really tempted to go, but it's just too much of a pain in the ass to drive over there from Lloyd Tower (where I'm working this morning). So will have to make do with the TIPA event over at NWIPA today.

Are they only doing 4oz pours? That'll give me a fighting chance of finding some tonight...

And while I have your attention- have got seen either the Export 66 or Crusher Destroyer on store shelves?

The way I understand it, they are only doing 4-ounce pours as part of the Triple Hop Slammed package: $16 for a glass and 8 sample tickets, one of which may be used to get a 4 oz. pour of Younger.

So that's one 4 oz. pour per person. If we assume they have a sixtel of Younger, that's something like 160 4-ounce pours.

I meant to tag you in my last post, so scroll up a bit and you'll see the details about Younger at Orenco.

Also (pt. 1): I have not seen any Export 66 or Crusher Destroyer on the shelves outside of Wayfinder.

Also (pt. 2): If you need to switch things up at Orenco, the Bruery Ruekeller Helles is a good effort. Worth trying.

By contrast, am at nwipa for their tipa fest, where tickets are $2 a pop and get you a two ounce pour. So it sounds like you're getting a much better deal at Orenco.

BTW. Wayfinder still has cans for sale of the 66 and CD.

Have so far just tried the rage side from urban roots and megathrust from Aslan. Both good, but prefer the RS, which seems more younger like. The megathrust is very, very tropical (lots of tropical fruit on the nose and palate). Good efforts both, but would take younger over both of them.

Not very impressed with the hops of fury from Beechwood bbq and brewing. The tripp hop from Claim 52 is better, but not by a lot.

Now trying the power plant from El Segundo. Sigh... I've yet to try a dipa or tipa from them that I liked. This is one of their better efforts, but it's still hot and boozy on the finish. Not a fan. The Super duper over ripe from Great Notion tastes like a huge amount of Hawaiin punch was added at some point. Not super impressed.

Now on to Blimey that's bitter from Reuben's. Excellent tipa from this consistently outstanding brewery. Along with the rage side, probably the best tipa at this event.

Last and probably least, there's S.M.A.C from Stickman brewing. Just not a very impressive effort, and probably the least tipa-like beer on the menu.

IMHO, none of the beers I tried today are nearly as good as younger, though rage side and blimey seemed to come the closest. The rage side reminds me very much of better batches of Notorious. Looking forward to PtY 2021.
