Over the last 15 years I have traded with about 200 BAs and never had a bad experience until now. It saddens me to have to make this post but I have run out of patience with Yarni28. What is surprising is that he has amassed a 100% rating with 110 trades.

    Here is what happened:

Back in October, he posted an ISO for Southern Grist beers and, as I was heading to Nashville the next week, responded that I would pick up some cans for him from the brewery, which I did. I didn't make any outrageous demands, just some New Glarus and other shelf beers from WI, where he lives. We had a good dialog and agreed to ship out in early November.

Then he went dark for a month, and returned to the conversation in early December. He wanted to expand a little, which was fine and told me he would get back to me. Then he went dark for another month and returned in early January to again see whether I wanted to expand. I said sure and he told me he wanted to wrap up the trade the following week.

This time he went dark again for three weeks and told me he couldn't find some of the other beers I wanted but was going to go to Eagle Park to pick up a few things and would ship out promptly. We exchanged addresses and agreed to ship out. This was on Jan 24. Given my experience to date, I awaited shipping confirmation from him before shipping. I have messaged him several times since then and have not heard a word.

It is worth noting that during this entire period, he made three other posts on the ISO:FT board, the most recent on Jan 9.

I advised him early this week that my patience was exhausted and that I was going to add him to the bad traders list. No response to that message, either, so with great reluctance to hang the laundry in public, this has been my experience with Yarni28.

Bummer to hear @brentk56. That’s a very drawn out trade so thanks for the timeline.

Was the trade system used? I don’t see an open trade for you.

Did he ever offer any explanation and or apologies for the long breaks in communication?

    Let’s tag him @Yarni28

Typically, I have only used the trade system once shipping is initiated and for the purposes of leaving feedback so we didn't get that far.

I asked him repeatedly for explanations and the best I got was that he had forgot to check in.

Trade request should be initiated and accepted BEFORE either party ships, if you don’t do that and things go sideways you can’t leave them bad feedback.

With that being said that doesn’t change the fact you have had a bad trading experience.

I'm always surprised at the lack of trade approval requests before shipping no matter someone's rating. Also, I'd abort any trade negotiation that goes dark for more than 24 hours. The negotiation is the easiest part of a trade, if I feel uncomfortable at that point I'm out. If responding to trade negotiations is difficult do you really think the actual trade will go smoother? I'm very sorry to hear of your situation nonetheless.

Please correct me if I'm wrong and forgive me if I'm being insensitive.

No accepted trade request and no boxes shipped, why the BT thread? You've been far more patient than me. I would have cut this guy loose a while ago and just moved on.

Aside from the process being a long drawn out hastle, it doesn't appear that you've lost anthing.

Crack a beer or two and be done with this guy

I somewhat agree with you. The reason I am making the posting is because he has posted on three more ISO threads in the time frame I have been dealing with him and I don't want others to have to deal with what I have gone through.

I get your point. But seems like the OP went out and got his ISO to set up the trade and then the guy requested to add so he did. There was another BT thread similar to this just 2 post down. While no boxes shipped, it’s still beer gotten to trade specifically because the other guy wanted who then backed out for no apparent reason.

@Yarni28 for his side as well.

    Kinda my thought too.

I'm also surprised about the lack of trade request usage in the cluster of recent BT threads. Outside of a few exceptions, it's the first thing I do when a trade has been agreed upon and hammered out. No accept, no trade.

Appears @Yarni28 has no open trade requests and hasn't completed a formal trade on BA in over a year. Several positive feedbacks left specifically note him taking a long time to ship. Dude sure has traded with a lot of very active midwest traders from here. I'm sure someone knows him.

Lastly, can we revoke his use of a Half Acre logo until he sends his box out?

While it sounds like he didn't follow preferred BA trade protocol, which I get lazy with from time to time myself, the other party strung him along for 2+ months which in itself deserves to be admonished.

Yea, its been a noticeable trend. Almost makes me think that being trader here shouldn't be a one time thing - maybe you have to agree to the terms/conditions every year to stay a trader. At least that would force people to re-acknowledge the trading rules. Or something in that vein.

It's probably not much consolation at this point but if you're looking for any Wisconsin or Milwaukee stuff please let me know!

Don't like hearing about bad traders from my area.

Have some local goodies I'd love to send

I spoke with @Todd specifically about this particular case, as this type of situation seems to be occurring more and more frequently. His feeling was that we should allow the Feedback system to handle this. I don't want to put words in his mouth, but if I understood him correctly.... as this sort of behavior is increasingly on the up swing, it's all the more important that members who want to trade on BA, use the Trade system, including the feedback system. The OP could then leave bad feedback about his experience with @Yarni28, and if @Yarni28 posted retaliatory feedback, we could/would get rid of him.

In the meantime, anyone who runs a search of the BA name @Yarni28, will come across this thread (and hopefully will think twice before initiating a trade with him).

That being said, really sorry this happened to you @brentk56. I always hate seeing someone engaged in an act of kindness, getting taken advantage of like this.

Would the user in the right be affected with retaliatory feedback? Or are you guys able to delete/remove those kind of feedbacks?

I'm not sure I have the ability to remove it, but I know Todd does. So yes, it could (and would) be removed.

Only Todd and Jason can with Admin/Owner powers and it can be done. As you all know, giving retaliatory feedback can earn someone a ban.

As it should. Just making sure that when its removed it doesn't show on the rating either.
