    Evening all

So, I’m just back from another little Berlin trip and thought I’d post a few thoughts/pictures as usual in case anyone finds them useful/entertaining!

I apologise in advance that I didn’t have any “craft beer” on this trip, I was blissfully happy drinking fernsehbier and a few different bits and bobs in some really good little eckkneipe. As usual, the people were really nice, the air was really smokey and most nights ended with a doener.

Special mentions must go to Foersters Feine Bier for their excellent selection, it was great to be able to have a Schumacher Alt in here and Beim Dicken for having a great kicker table.

Here are some boozers I went to

Wait, Andechs is Fehrenseher Bier now?!

    And Gaffel?

Sorry, guess I'm out of touch. ;-)

haha i did say some other bits and bobs too! Although i know there are definitely people on here who would class those as fernsehbiers though!

It was pretty busy on sunday evening i was quite surprised, the Hohentanner beers have always in good shape whenever i've been, oh and it's pretty handy for the tram!

That is how I ended up there the first time, changing trams.

I really don't like the smoke, so I tend to go to places that allow it early, before it gets too crowded...

Great selection of pubs. Did you have a local guide?
"Willi Bresch" is quite a famous place, the Hohenthanner there is marvellous.
"Beim Dicken" is close to where I live, it is not everybody's taste.
Which place did you like most?

The term "Fernsehbiere" must be adjusted from time to time. The number of breweries that advertise on TV is dropping, as far as I can see.
Krombacher, Bitburger, Radeberger and Erdinger are the only ones that frequently advertise in these days. You do not see Veltins, Warsteiner, Paulaner, Becks, Jever, König as often as years ago.
    Anyway, Andechser never advertised nationwide.

No local guide no, just me! but i have been coming to berlin for years now and i do my research, it also helps that i like walking around different neighbourhoods, at the last count i've visited 136 kneipen (that's not including other random bars/craft beer places) you could say its a bit of a hobby, ha.

This time i really liked the places in spandau, zur altstadt had a good selection of beers. Zur Tulpe in steglitz had a really good atmosphere, oh and i quite liked beim dicken, mainly for the great kicker table.

I always try and get to foersters in steglitz aswell for the great beer choice.

Do you have any recomendations for places i may have missed for my future trips?

My favourite beer tavern is the Ufercafe (in Wedding), just five minutes from my work place. Other nice bars in that area are Kugelblitz, Brüsseler Tor, Klein Zaches, Seetank, Rosis Kiezkneipe, Soldiner Eck, Bornholmer Hütte, and in nearby Tegel the Skatklause and Zum gemütlichen Eck. Försters is great, but unfortunately far away from where I live.

I had never heard of Eichhof before...Googled it and now know why - it's from Switzerland and now in the hands of Heineken Switzerland. Anyone else in same boat?

When they spend money on TV commercials they are not spending money on the beer

Yeah, that's one way of looking at it, and you would be the perfect Oettinger customer, as their mantra was always no marketing or sales force dollars spent so the beer is cheaper. For most businesses, advertising and marketing is just as important as the product.
