I can't wait to try their beers this year! :+1: It has been some time and want to see how much they have improved.

So much this! Hoping they offer one of their homebrew classes in the near future so I can learn their techniques.

No one has posted on the 2019 thread since 10/08/19 and before that 06/29. I hope this thread is a bit more active!

that's because the ban hammer fell often on people who posted there; mainly because it was a lot of pile on without first hand experience.

which is what i now have - as I visited them a few weeks back.

    1. welcoming staff, and it's obviously a "neighborhood haunt" where locals hang out. It doesn't seem like a place where you're going to see random people stopping by for a beer; seems like people are gonna go there for their pizza next door and trivia/darts/etc. Unlike other close breweries like Twin Elephant and now Untied which will draw people seeking out a decent beer.
1a. The tasting room isn't half bad tbh - much better vibe than Untied (ie isn't a cavernous industrial building). Like if they made halfway decent beer - i'd stop there again and hangout with a pizza (i didn't have any pizza this go-around)

    2. my flight was half foam. like each beer was half foam - they did "top" me off on one beer as i drank it. I've just never had such a bad pour of beer. Like i know 4oz pours will occasionally be more foamy - but it's like they put the keg in a paint shaker, then poured my beer.

    3. they're a little heavy handed with the fruit extracts they add - but not in a way you'd expect from like the typical "slushie" or "smoothie" style beers that are hyped. It's like they brewed a subpar pale and just dumped cheap extract (not real fruit) in that made the beers reminiscent of cough syrup

    4. not only did i finish my flight i had additional beers after that. just to get the full experience. The beers were BAD but they were drinkable - and not infected. Like it was just a shitty beer but not a "obviously infected" or sour shitty beer.

    5. they had a "wine infused" beer and....did they just pour wine into the fermenter? can they do that? is it legal?

When i walked to the bathroom I noticed that they had a handful of kegs sitting out near the brew area with airlocks on them - clearly fermenting beer (some krausen was visible) with no temperature regulation. I know in one of the very few brewery shots they posted on IG - they clearly show a cold room with fermenters, so curious as to wtf these beers are. But poor temperature control could be one reason why their beers are so bad.

I should also note that it's been a few weeks and I am still alive and did not suffer from any gastrointestinal issues. Also NJ has a lot of good beer around, but sometimes you don't truly appreciate a sneakbox until after you do 2-3 pints of various YT beers.

I can hardly believe someone is trying to revive this thread. I give it . . . two weeks?

I went a few weeks back and man i was blown away. When people told me it was bad i didnt realize how bad. This was on a whole other level, but in a great way. It was so bad it was good! Im excited to go back when it warms up.

Can you be more specific? Which beers did you have and what was so bad about them? Were any of them infected like in the past?

Someday I want to dedicate an entire day to subpar food and drink. I think I’ll dine at a Golden Corral or something (I’ve never been but heard the legends), book a night at a Knights Inn, have a bunch of beer at Yale Terrace. It’d be kinda life changing, a lot like prison I bet, with Yale Terrace being the toilet wine. I bet it’d really put things in perspective and perhaps give you a better outlook on your life. Life changing.

Bit the bullet and went to Yale Terrace today. For the memes I guess.

I guess at least nothing I had was infected, that’s positive right?

Did a flight to try the array available. To be honest the overall theme seemed to be watered down and thin on everything across the board.

The smash IPA was thin, watery, with only an ever so slight hop character to it.

Oatmeal stout wasnt horrible but again was very thin. Supposedly on nitro but youd never know. Not creamy at all. Didn’t seem like any extra carbonation or head or anything you’d associate with a nitro pour at all. Prob the most passable of what I had though.

Cherry Sour. It was definitely sour and tart. Can’t really say it tasted cherry like at all though. Couldn’t really put my finger on what it tasted like to be honest. Just tart but really couldn’t distinguish any specific flavor.

The last one I had I dont even know what exactly I had or how to describe it. All it said on the board was “Choc Coconut”. That was it. Assumed maybe a stout. Was definitely not, came out an orange. I asked what style it was just so I knew what to expect to drink and was told it was an ale or pale ale.

When I was looking on Untappd some of their shits confusing. They give their different beers numbers. The number that corresponded with what was on their board shows up on Untappd as two different pale ales, which would kind of go with what the bartender told me. Which of those it is I have no clue. A search of Yale Terrace and coconut brought up Choc Coconut Stout (also with a number shared by the oatmeal stout).

Worst beer of the 4 that I had. More flat than still water. Absolutely zero carbonation or head. Was supposed to be on “nitro”. Yeah, no. Very faint slight hint of MAYBE coconut. But barely noticeable. Id hate to blame or accuse people of shit but honestly between the lack of description on the board and the fact that the numbering and naming of these things was so messed up The only thing Coming to mind was maybe they had the chocolate coconut stout on tap and didnt clean the line all the way before putting a pale on. Maybe i was just expecting the worst after hearing other stories though. Between the slight flavors and them giving different beers, across styles, the same “unique” numbers I was just confused. Even if thats not the case whatever I had in that beer was horrible.

bathroom also skeeved me out a little. Lol

Its off the list, done for science. Will not be returning
