While Barleywines aren't exatly a favorite of mine, I was glad this was gifted to me from my last online order, being quite an American, bitter, zesty and somewhat resinous example of the style, being balanced nicely against some sweeter caramel malt, toffee and red/dark fruits. My kind of Barleywine, really.

New Holland Dragon's Milk White BBA Stout, 6% ABV. Pours orange with a five-finger white head that left slight lacing. Nose is vaguely sweet, but indistinct, maybe vanilla and/or lactose, and slight bourbon. Taste is less sweet than the smell, and butterscotchy. Almost no bitterness, and no bourbon-barrel taste. Decent mouthfeel, overall excellent. I was expecting something more extreme here, either clearly a slightly bitter BA stout or a pastry stout. This is somewhere in-between, and makes no bold statement. Wanted to try this since it was announced, but not a big fan.

Hope everyone had a good Monday. Had a relatively uneventful PO visit to catch up in the morning. Been lurking on Ebay looking for a nice used US made Music Man 6 string with the piezo acoustic bridge and the whole deal. Wanting one of the ones with the Matte Black hardware and body finish. Don't care about play wear as long as it's not too bad. The guitar is $2700 new, so a grand discount is in my price range. It will look something like this:

Big Lake Alien Rabbit. Awesome NEDIPA. Lasting thick head retention/soapy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, red apple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, green pepper, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and fairly sticky/resinous/rindy mouthfeel. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Minimal warming 9%. Awesome citra, cascade, ekuanot, bravo, and Idaho gem hop hash profile. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a nice sized wheat/oat/malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. Glad I got the 4 pack as usual. Very well executed. 4.13

    Cheers

Another reason I want a EBMM JP6 is literally all my favorite guitarist use one. I might search for a similar 7 string just in case. It'll just cost a little more.

A perfectly nice smoked stout that could perhaps be a little more smokey and less sweet for my personal taste, but still delivers on its premise with some smokey, almost peaty, notes backed up by lighter chocolate, coffee and licorice, while also balacing out that certain sweetness with a good bitterness and roasted, herbal undertones.
