I'm not sure I have enough information to take a stand one way or the other yet, but it's sure as fuck interesting to watch this all go down. I'm thinking it's more serious than most people think, though I'm not sure we should be at shelf clearing levels of panic either.

Weird, seems like most people think it's extremely serious.

Let us not forget, symptoms aren't present for 2 weeks. Anyone that's had it hasn't been in some kind of bubble in quarantine prior to having it. They've been contaminating countless other individuals for up to 2 weeks.

Cue next 2 pages of panic.

I think we should be taking it seriously, I even advocated my entire office start working from home starting next week. (100% easy to do)

    I was shot down.

I’ve seen plenty of dumb takes in prior year DLD threads but never did I see some so nuts that @Quilentro had to be the voice of reason.

Fuch Coachella. It's an Instagram fest first, EDM fest second nowadays.

I mean the kill rate is up to like 30X the flu so hopefully the guy stink-eyeing CNN for “fake news” is prepared.

I still think the fest goes on because Indiana but my attendance is probably going to be grab my bottles and go.

This extra sucks because I’ve got an FO and a fundamental forces and some veil barley wine I’ve been squatting on for DLD so now i have to share with my beer pleb friends or drink alone. Thanks for nothing, virus.

I have trouble believing you could not make new friends with those bottles. After the scourge, find the remnants of a local beer group.

There is no verifiable, valid mortality rate right now. Reporting needs to include everyone that got it and also got over it. It doesn't.

this is an interesting read...Author: Jeremy Samuel Faust is an emergency medicine physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, faculty in its division of health policy and public health, and an instructor at Harvard Medical School.

Cruise ships are actually a good study since everyone is stuck, age might be a little higher than the average community, so the higher risk patient is on board at a potentially higher than average volume. How many deaths have we seen on cruise ships?

Better yet, how about DLD on a cruise ship. I've already done the Jester King cruise :laughing:

I think at this point DLD should just be marketed as a festival for people who already have Coronavirus. "Sick, lonely, with no place to go? Come on down to DLD and drink away your problems. Share rare beer with others who suffer from your afflictions."

I think people have been saying that South Korea is a decent estimate of mortality rate. They have a shitload of cases, but their response has been fantastic. I think the current estimate is slightly below 0.7%, which seems in keeping with what that article states. Flu is 0.1% or something, so lazy math says covid-19 is potentially 7x as deadly as the flu (making it bad but not H1N1 bad).

I know this discussion is annoying some people, but I'm pretty amused that even including an international chat that I have going all day during the week, this DLD thread is still the most coronavirus discussion I've had online.
