Meant to post this last night but ran out of time. Yesterday I was hit, not once but twice by 2 killer boxes. First up, my 2nd box in the past 2 weeks from @EMH73 These are all new to me except 2 from Trillium I’ve had before but am stoked to revisit.

-Trillium: Tongan Vanilla Crown & Crate, Galaxy Double Ft Point, DDH Stillings Street.
-Lamplighter: Birds of a Feather, Blame it on My Juice.
-Tree House: Fleeting Moment, Bbbrighttt w/Citra.

I’m excited for all of these including my 1st from Lamplighter. Thanks again Evan I appreciate it!

Also, @Dragginballs76 were you helping brew that Lamplighter beer? “Blame it on my juice” sounds like something you’d come up with!

And 2nd, I received this one from @Buck89 I asked John to pick me up a couple 4-packs when he was recently at Modern Times. Which he did by sending me:
    -DDH Dinosaur World
    -DDH Finally Open in LA

That’s where it should have ended. But instead of throwing the 8 cans into a flat rate he decided to drop this 30 LB box on me!
    -Bearded Iris: Counting Sheep 2
    -Rip Current: 2020 Vanilla Storm
    -Yazoo: State of Funk 2017
*I’ve never even heard of Rip Current or Yazoo. These both sound amazing.
-Southern Grist: Hill Bruleed Grapefruit, Southern Crisp, Peach Cobbler
*Southern Grist is now one of my favorite breweries.
-Bearded Iris: Future DIPA, Sundaze, Assorted Flavors
-Modern Times: Max w/Strata, Beastmaster Feastmaster crowler

These are all new ticks for me including my 1st brews from Rip Currant & Yazoo. John you went above and beyond. I’m looking forward to every one of these. Thanks again!

A couple weeks ago, I had turned my phone on after work, and got the strangest message, letting me know my "Savagezon Prime" delivery was complete. I tend to buy a lot of stupid shit online, but I most certainly was not expecting anything to be delivered that day. Long story short, I came home to this:

It seems as though @Joplamp thought I needed some snacks, and was kind enough to have @Oconomowocian make a house call! Not only was the 'beetus left behind, but also these guys hidden behind one of the displays:

A little "thank you", if you will, from @Oconomowocian because he believes that I was the one behind his tab getting paid at Funky Buddha while he was on a work trip. I have to say, I was impressed that he was able to find a FB beer that I haven't had yet!

Thanks again Jay for the beer and for making the trip to "ding-dong" my house. And obviously, a thank you to Jordan as well for the Hostess bomb. While I only kept a few things from the massive drop, the rest were enjoyed by children at church, helped feed the less fortunate, and kept some greedy bastards at work full.

If it ain’t sweet I’m not drinkin it.
I was raised to say soda but my geographic location would suggest that I say pop

Sweet tea is totally gross to me. I remember the last time I was in NC, 2 years ago, and got a thing of tea, thinking it wasn't sweet. It was. I spit it out, and dumped the rest out.

So I’ve been hit by none other than @TheGent

Anthony knows how I’m a catfish cap addict. & being the good pal he is, he made sure I was covered on one I missed out on.

But not only that, what else he threw in might even have me more excited.
He made sure to help round out my ticks of the regular & new variants of the coffee series from Carton. (Honestly, this is my favorite “series” of beer, & these sound awesome)
Then a Kane stout! (The only Kane stout I’ve had the pleasure of trying was just a taster at DLD, so this is exciting!)

then to round out the box he threw in a beer for a blind review (which has me very curious!)

Thank you for this box, Anthony. I really appreciate the thoughtfulness & am excited about going through the whole thing!

    Cheers all!

It should go without saying that as a Savage you are required to complete the blind review first before opening the others.

I’m excited to see what you think about it.

    Blind review from @TheGent
    [IMG]
This beer pours with a stream of brown. It forms in the glass like a very dark brown, or old school stout. (Or maybe even a black ipa) Khaki colored bubbles with tinges of butterscotch form over a finger width to rest on top. The crown holds well and leaves sticky, spitty lacing as it slowly recedes into the depths. I want to also add that there is a cloudiness of very small sediment that resembles something of graham cracker or coconut.

The nose brings lightly roasted malts with great balance to them. There is a good amount of hop presence accenting the malts with touches of fruit. At this point I’m not picking up any adjuncts, so maybe the sediment is just from the unfiltered nature of the beer. But I am going to rule out brown ale now. Still could be a black ipa or american stout. But I’m picking up just a nice mix and balance of hops & malts tangling together.

From the first sip, I just think I am being thrown for a loop. I can’t really rule this out as a black ipa or a classic, hoppy American stout. Once again, I am just getting a really enjoyable mix of hops and malt. The hops give accents of light, bright fruit to the toasted, lightly charred malts. I’m getting a note of resin that is on the edge of being burnt, but stops at the perfect time. But I think I can definitely rule out the use of adjuncts at this point.

The body doesn’t have a ton of heft, but is slick all the way through. Honestly perfect for a nice, refreshing drink that isn’t gonna sit too heavy.

So I can’t say with 100% confidence what I would classify this as. I think that some breweries would call this a black ipa while others would go with calling it a classic, american single with a good use of hops. Either way, where I stand on this is it is a beautiful showcase of what hops and malts can do together without adjuncts (hopefully). I really like how the balance they brought between them and thought it was an enjoyable & refreshing mix. Especially in today’s world of overly sweet stout offerings. This is a great reminder that there are breweries out there who can still work magic with their craft & not have to add anything on top of it for it to be great.

    & the reveal,
    [IMG]
so Anthony hit me with a wishlist item as a blind review. I appreciate this man & this was very fun to do blind. I really enjoyed this beer & stand to my statement that I’m glad there are still breweries out there who can work magic without the use of adding to the top. & I would’ve never guessed it was a beer that sits at 10.3%. That ABV was nowhere to be found. I typically do tend to be a bigger fan of Black IPAs than most, but this beer was truly magic between hops & malt.

thanks a ton man & cheers to all!
