Last night most of the country went on lock down due to the corona virus. On top of that a storm is on its way towards Copenhagen so it seems like a stay in sofa-and-beer kind of day today.

Påskelam by Thisted Bryghus, 5.8% ABV bock. Cheers everyone!

Good day BAs! Thought I'd revisit a pre-BA beer I had never reviewed. Last had this back in 2009:

Decent example of the style that still doesn't appeal to my taste, such as it is - it'll probably be another 11 years before I try it again.

Have a Nice Thursday. Still didn't get my Oculus Rift S headset yet. FedEx wanted a signature and I wasn't home, so I just told them to drop it at the Auburn Hills location so I can get it on my own time. Did get my new internet/tv setup kit so I have over 500MBPS internet and 200+ cable channels. Gave me a new set top box so I can use more features on my TV. Need to probably get a DOCSIS 3.1 modem to get the full GBPS, I dunno. Might call tech support about it. my Upload speed is only 6MBPS, which is slower than before.

Bombastic Malice. Very nice. Solid head retention/lacing, with some coconut floaties. Aromas and flavors of big coconut, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, cinnamon, toffee, fudge, vanilla, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark bread/crust; with lighter notes of dark fruit, licorice, molasses, smoke, char, herbal, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, grass, roast, charred bitterness; and cinnamon spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy, silky, bready, and fairly sticky/chalky mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing lingering bitter/spicy dryness; no cloying/acrid/astringent flavors. Mild increasing warmth of 10.5% after the finish. A bit more bitter/drying than expected for a dessert stout, but very well executed otherwise. Great balance of rich malts, coconut, cinnamon, and earthy hops against sweetness. 3.9

Amundsen Bryggeri & Finback Brewery Fade To Green, 6.5% ABV NEIPA.
Pretty standard NEIPA. Not too bitter which is just up my alley. Wouldn't mind drinking it again but probably won't seek it out.

Starting a calm Thursday with another Reaper Stout. Can't believe I found the last 4 pack in town (?). IN any case, an appropriate beer for the panic seemingly happening. Stay safe. Don't hoard all the TP, Cornholios. Cheers.

I just bought my ticket for Devin Townsend, The Contortionist, and HAKEN for tomorrow evening at the Crofoot in Pontiac. Never been to that venue before. Super close to me too. Definitely buying some DT and HAKEN Shirts. Top favorite bands of all time.

Dogfish Head Bourbon Barrel-Aged World Wide Stout. Amazing as expected. Poor head retention/light spotty soapy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, coconut, fudge, bourbon, toasted oak, roasted nuts, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of molasses, licorice, raisin, fig, date, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Light herbal, grass, roast, charred bitterness; and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full body; very creamy, silky, velvety, and lightly slick/sticky/chalky/tannic mouthfeel. Mild increasing warmth of 18.3% and lingering barrel booze after the finish. Dangerously smooth sipping, fantastic soft feel for the ABV. Not overly bitter/tannic. Amazing balance of super rich malts and bourbon barrel presence/integration. A lot less fruity/yeasty than the base beer that I recall, with main focus on the malts and barrel character. 4.35

Back at Arkane. It had an open of 9am...no line now...sitting at bar with maybe best beer of TBBW yet - “4 Fingers and...” Mortalis collab, Rye Whiskey BA chocolate, coconut and marshmallow:

Strong coconut nose and taste! Rich, full body from creamy marshmallows, which tamed somewhat the dry rye barrel feel/finish. Delicious!

Half day of work complete, burning down the 400 hours of vacation a little. Great M-43 along with a Popeye's spicy chicken sandwich and rice and beans.

    Good morning and afternoon, Advocates!

A local, hazy IPA from Tonewood Brewing in Oaklyn, NJ. Outside Philly. We recently obtained distribution within the past year and I look forward to trying more of their beers.

This beer was just too appropriate for my mindset today. Starting to feel way too 12 Monkeys for my liking with so many things closing down. Hopefully the beer will help me remember that it’s really not the end of the world. Cheers!

I recall that beer having a significantly lighter coloring. Anyway, I think it is a stellar Saison. What's your beef with it?

[IMG] Flow Switch (Experimental) 8% ABV boiled with High Yeast Temps. Pours a dark hazy yellow, with a half finger sticky white that leaves thick rings of lace with solid retention. 4.5

Smell is blueberry, peach, raspberry, tangerine, and apricot. 4.25

Taste follows kind gives me a fruity pebbles flavor blueberry, lemon, orange, and lime actually not bad, but very very different. 4.25

Mouthfeel is about medium, sticky not dry, easy drinking at 8%, with soft gentle carbonation. 4.5

Overall this oddly tasty and I would have no problem crushing one of these again. 4.25
