It's just what caviar automatically does. I think the fees vary depending on how far away from the pickup spot the delivery is.

    .

yes, it's 30%. So if we charge $18/4-pack, then we only receive $12.60. Margins are much thinner than when people pick up from the brewery!

While we have you here @Grimm_Artisanal_Ales, can we hope to see an Other Half IPA collab in the future?

I just picked up Lambo Door (4x cans) and Space Diamonds (2x) at a Local Bar/Shop. I figured I would show a local place I like some love and also save delivery fees.

Those 6 cans came out to $43.50 or $7.25 a can/or $29-4pack. Essentially the exact same cost of getting 4-packs delivered. But, hey, I'm supporting a small business in a time of need.

Having said that, forgot to tip, so, I feel like an asshole. My cardinal rule is I don't tip when just buying cans, but, in circumstances like this when hourly employees are just trying to stay afloat . However, there is a definite upcharge in the cost at $7.25 a can...I'm trying to tell myself it makes up for it....right?

Anyone try the new batch of SD? Might take a trip this week. Crazy how easy it is to get around with zero traffic.

No offendo but, (and this question can readily be asked of just about any BA poster) why the secrecy with where you purchased the beer? I've read countless messages from countless BAers who refer to their 'local spot'. I could see maybe being protective of a decent selection in a not-well-known store but, share the wealth people! Especially now...not that we should be encouraging people to leave their homes.

Wasn't meant to be a secret. I just felt like an ass for not tipping. It was Beer Run. Other Half just made a post saying where you can pick up cans throughout Manhattan as well.

Yeah, I didn't want you to think I was picking on you specifically, just something i notice.
Might be one of the few remaining reasons why I wish I lived in Manhattan! Cheers and enjoy!

Does anyone know if OH gives retail shops discounts for cans? Wondering what the economics are of what's in it for the bar vs OH. What I mean is taht when I go to say Haymaker who occasionally sells Root + Branch, OH, Grimm cans to go only do they get it below retail price? Haymaker sells them at brewery cost, so, wondering what is in it for Haymaker?

Now are they doing this to get people in the door and hopefully they stay for food and a draft or two? I see other shops

@Msudukie this batch of SD more vegetal/earthy than peak, but still quite tasty. That said, just opened my first can of Forever Simcoe and it's fire- more tropical than straight pineapple but the superior of the two IMO.

I know single IPAs usually don’t get much love but Go with the flow is tasting great right now. Doing a lot more day drinking now that I’m stuck working from home and it’s nice to have a good one to pace myself with.

Really enjoying the Red Shift "fluffernutter" stout. Was only going to drink half of it tonight (and switch to rye whiskey) but may just finish this bottle. The nose on it is insane- like freshly baked peanut butter cookies and marshmallow fluff. Miraculously well hidden alcohol.

So, is brewing beer a solitary activity? Like, how long can they continue to brew with the social distancing directives in force? It seems like something you could do by yourself but is probably way easier if you've got some extra hands. I have to imagine that at some point they lock up for a couple weeks at least while things play out. I hate imagining it but am also bracing myself (and trying to stock the fridge accordingly).

Seems pretty reasonable to brew with both a group of less than 10 (Trump suggestion) people and also (and more importantly) 6 feet apart. My assumption is that protective gear is worn normally in any commercial brewing to ensure no contamination.

My highly uninformed opinion says brewing beer right now and selling it as best they can (now with distribution, also out of taproom) beats sitting on their hands. It's tough times for sure in the industry but I suspect it's gone better for them than other food and beverage outposts. If I'm wrong please (kindly) let me know.

I (too) am a big fan of parentheses (as is often evidenced in my posts), so I really enjoyed your post (like a lot).

If all of our speculation around OH’s ability to basically print money is (even if only somewhat) true, then I would hope/agree that they should be able to weather the storm better than most, and that also it will (hopefully) allow them to protect their employees better than some of the other poor local businesses out there.

As I’m sure many of you saw, Mission Dolores and Double Windsor are among some local places who have set up gofundme pages to help employees they’ve had to lay off. So if you’ve enjoyed drinking at those spots and have a spare few $ then let’s help em out!

edit - and on the topic of businesses trying to stay afloat, I saw someone complaining about growler prices on Covenhoven’s page. Like fucking really dude? Right now?
