Save the date: Threes Brewing would be very pleased if you came to the brewery in Gowanus on January 16, 2020 to help us celebrate the past 5 years of making, serving and drinking beer together in Brooklyn.
    ________________________________________

Festivities kick off at 5pm with twenty-four draft lines of Threes beer, including some rarer beers from our cellar. The Meat Hook will have food specials and DJ Mumbles comes on at 8.

Special Anniversary Beer: Vainglorious Dry-Hopped Pilsner (aka SuperVliet) // to be released @threesbrewing next Thursday, Jan 16th at our 5th Anniversary Party, link in profile.
    ________________________________________

Aesthetically and practically, our flagship Vliet Pils is a great representation of our conception of beer at Threes. Since the day we decided to start a brewery, we knew lager beer would be a big focus. Despite the fact that it goes against the trend of bigger, bolder styles coming out of many American craft breweries, we love lagers and 5 years later we continue to make them at a dizzying pace. With that in mind, we thought it would be fun to riff on our old stalwart Vliet for our special anniversary beer. Specifically, we were curious about what dry-hopping with the same varieties (Saaz / Select) would add to the beer. We're so glad we did this and strongly recommend you join us at our Anniversary Party next Thursday to taste Vliet side-by-side, with its boastful offspring, Vainglorious.

I’m not as enthusiastic for this as I should be, since I drank 4 x Kicking & Screaming on an empty stomach last night.

But tomorrow I will be - nice!

Yep, and actually glad they didn’t stray too far (from the original recipe) on the dry-hopping front: Saaz & Select is an appropriate riff on Vliet

I love how Three’s anniversary beers aren’t the typical re-iteration of IPAs as almost every brewery does. Anni beers are supposed to be special and stand out. I cannot wait to try this.

Don’t see a thread started, so I’ll start one....anywoo....holy shit this is good. The rye barrel and the bourbon barrel are in perfect harmony here. I was wary to pay $8 for a can (and I bought 2) but this is a wow stout for sure.

I’ve had my eye on that beer since they announced it but haven’t gotten to Brooklyn lately.

Ya, created the “Appreciation” thread to keep it ongoing, as I don’t see this getting much traction/love for a yearly edition…hopefully I’m wrong

This year needs to be the year of Threes. We (NYC or local to NYC BAs) all suck off Suarez (myself included - I love Lord Dan’s stuff), but these guys are super local/accessible and execute on a broad range of styles really well, without feeding the hype machine

As the newbie NYC-area BA, sounds like you just nominated yourself to run a tri-state area meetup at Threes? Maybe @RobNewton will give you some tips from the meetups he’s hosted, out of the kindness of his heart.

The North Dakota scene was a lot less hierarchical, but yes of course no problem. Will I be hazed (tosed?) at the first meet up?

By Hazegramps himself, natch. Good luck trusting which beer is which, they say his brain pre-dates the Louisiana Purchase.

I’m all for a meet up at the original Threes location - it’s extremely convenient via LIRR. They do such a stellar job at executing a broad range of styles. I was there last week and brought home a 4 of Short Fuse (incredible) and a bottle of the HV collab.

I had a pour of their Bitter which was awesome.

and luckily for us Suarez ball hangers, they have had a Suarez guest tap at the brewery everytime I’ve been there in the last 12 months.

Beer Release: Indoctrination (5.4%, Collab with @hudsonvalleybrewery)

Some time ago, we got a brand new American oak foudre, also sometimes spelled foeder.

We broke in said foudre/foeder with HVB on a lager collab. Because we love lagers.

Hopped with Zuper Saazer (really fun to say) it’s a simple pint beer, with a hint of something extra from aging in oak.

    Tasting Notes: Dandelion Flowers,
Fresh Cut Grass, Lemon Verbena, Woodshop, Lawnmower Beer.

    Grab some:
    ▶️ To-go from @theshopatthrees Gowanus and Greenpoint
▶️ Pre-order for pickup via our website
▶️ or have it delivered via @caviar.

Please enjoy while hunkered down in your bunkers .
