I do believe it’s after 6am East Coast time, which means our European virtual bar brethren are slacking. Just kidding, @Shanex. You know we love you. The new normal finally hit me personally Friday after Illinois went into the “shelter in place” way of life and my multi-millionaire boss finally let us run the call center from our homes. I don’t have to start my own mobile set up until Monday (and I have an on site ten year old IT guy I would gladly stack against anybody’s home office. Seriously, you can hire him for the right price. I may need the money if things go the way they are). So at least for the weekend, I’m drinking my troubles away with good beer. Cheers, virtual bar brethren.

I love you too, @mschrei and the rest of you as well.

Just got back from errands and the panic buying has dramatically decreased. I was pretty much lonely in the mall and have purchased enough for a week and more. Most people have already stocked up and luckily most are complying with the lockdown on France. I live in a ghost town, but here’s hoping we all pull through and in a few months from now this will all only be a bad memory...

Duvel Tripel Hop Citra - cheers all.

Have a good Saturday. Nothing much planned today other than video games and music/guitar. I should get my 10TB HDD in the mail today from Newegg. Probably going to have to reformat the thing to NTFS, it was an NAS drive so might have some sort of Linux drive format. Or so I've heard. I couldn't find any desktop drives with that big of a capacity, but I doubt NAS will make much of a difference.

2008 New Holland Night Tripper. This is tasting fantastic. Aromas and flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, vanilla, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark bread/crust; with lighter notes of licorice, raisin, fig, date, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Mild herbal, grassy, peppery, roast, charred bitterness on the finish. Mellow carbonation and very full body; very creamy, silky, velvety and lightly slick/sticky/chalky mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering hop/char dryness; no cloying/acrid/astringent flavors. Dangerously smooth/soft, mild increasing warmth of 10.8%. Amazing rich malt complexity with balancing earthy hops and restrained fruity yeast. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. Despite soft carbonation, very little oxidation to be found! 4.25

After relatively heavy 9,5% ABV Duvel Citra, the much lighter Chimay blonde dorée at 4,8%...

Haha. While the Cubs are/were supposed to be competitive, there have been multiple reasons to be skeptical...I guess I could take this reprieve like that, as well!

Good day BAs! Starting off with some alleged maple syrup flavoring for today's New Breakfast Beer:

Toppling Goliath Dorothy's New World Lager. Excellent Cali Common. Poor head retention/minimal lacing. Aromas and flavors of lemon, pear, red apple, cracker, corn, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, wood, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body, and fairly crisp/clean finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malts, and sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter dryness; no hop astringency. Refreshing, nicely clean lagering, not overly fruity yeasty. Nice clean pils malt/grainy showcase, balancing earthy hops, and restrained fruity yeast. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp dryness. Very well done. 3.97

This is a really good IPA! I am a huge Stone Cold Steve Austin fan, but I would buy this beer again, even if his name was not on it!
