    That depends...

    A 500ml Stange is deep.

A 250ml Belgian chalice... not so much! :sunglasses:

Right. I've never been to Europe; but it's my understanding that it is not unusual for bars over there to use a large glass with a line marking where the glass is to be filled with beer and above the line is plenty room for head. It insures the patron is getting their monies worth. I would like to see that here.

I have a Libbey Munique that came with a variety set I ordered recently. I have really become fond of that glass. It seems easy to get a nice looking pour out of it.

The Sam Adams glass gets my vote!

    Mugs.
Swirl it around and stick your whole face in there, get all the smells you want.
Hard to drop and hard to put down.

Yeah, they do, especially in countries like Germany, the Netherlands, etc., where having a good amount of head on your draft beer is expected.

I use this tulip for almost everything. It's my most used glass. Works well for any style.

My close second favorite is the Willi Becher. Far superior to tumblers and nonic pints--in my opinion--due to its smoother, more graspable and streamlined shape, while its slight curvature enhances aromatics. I use it most for (NE)IPAs and pilsners/light lagers; anything that comes in pint cans.

for sheer versatility of where you can go, including lounging poolside, there is NO better beer serving 'glass' than the red plastic cup

Like many of you, My favorite glass to use is my Belgian tulip (the Crate and Barrel one). But with the proliferance of 16oz cans, I find myself using a weisen glass, as it’s the only one large enough to hold the entire can. I don’t like having to pour a single can in increments.

Haha. I still use pilsner glasses for the pilsners.
But the thread topic is "versatile", and I use pilsner glasses almost exclusively for pilsners.

Permit me to recommend that glass for your next bottle/can of Czech Dark Lager.

I used mine earlier today for this purpose and it was absolutely awesome here.

    Cheers!

I'll try it. On that note, I also like pilsner glasses for saisons. Pilsner glasses seem to retain the carbonation better than any other glass style, so it works well for the fizzy ones.

    Great beer.

Dimpled mugs (the Czech kind), a half liter Maß, a Will Becher, a Nonic pint, any Spiegelau glass that I know of, a Duvel glass, a tulip pint glass (think Guinness), and I’m sure there’s many more that will fit 16 oz. of beer.

This hybrid glass style does it for me every time. I really do like tulips as well but this one is the ultimate and the nose it creates is insane.

I find any glass with a laser etching at the bottom is good for retaining a nice head.
