I agree with you. Mayberry defines the greatness of a West Coast IPA.

Agree. Mayberry holds the spot that OG Green Flash WCIPA held for me circa 2006-2010. Not saying it tastes the same, just how I esteem and adore the beer itself.

Had my 3rd can of Alpha Neo last night. Such an amazing beer. Love the coconut vibe I get off it

Pretty nice getting some Beachwood 16oz cans up in Northern California now.

    Went with Amalgamator last night.

Anywhere in SD north county have Kern Citra still? Saw a couple places got cans early this week but was too lazy to go out. Now I'm ready but probably missed the window.

High 6 West Coast ipa from HPB is pretty interesting. I've had 'juicy' west coast ipas that I wasn't too thrilled with due to the lack of bite/bitterness, but I think this one is pretty darn good. Worth checking out. :+1:

    Interesting. Mosaic hops. Single hop?

I've only seen it in the IPA mixed pack, but I'm sure different/more options are available on the West Coast.

Yep, and it's amazing. Mosaic is quite possibly my favorite hop. It's extremely versatile and works well with any type of IPA.

Mosaic in west coast IPAs is the shit. Not as big a fan of it in hazy IPAs. Would love to try that Stone.

Yessssss OG St Thomas >>>> Current St Thomas
    Turok the Mosaic Hunter
    >>>> Turok Juice (Mostly, there was one amazing batch)

I'm even going to say something that is even more weird. I don't like Mosaic when it's part of a hop blend. It tastes too floral or something, and you can always tell when it's in the beer. But as a single hop? It's probably my favorite single hop beer. Up there with Simcoe, which has similar properties. So many nuances come out with single hop.

Wcipa fans take note, especially in so cal. These guys do some of the best clear hops in the north and are freshness freaks.
They also did a really good mosaic single hop last year (it was in their Stoked series which is doing Centennial and is sold out right now.).
All their stuff is tasty as well

    Back-Story:

what you had a Beachwood was the same recipe using their process (albeit an agreed-upon process), their water and their selected hops. What you get at Kern River (and the can) is our process, water and hops. To my surprise, they turned out quite different. Theirs was much softer and fruitier and ours was danker and more in your face. Both, in my opinion, were well-executed beers. For what it is worth, the next batch (which was already brewed before everything hit the fan) has a different lot of Mosaic. Really enjoyed having the Beachwood crew up for the collab.

I happen to respectfully disagree with Raul, I think it is an excellent beer and I am still enjoying it daily, but I understand that different people have different tastes. I typically reserve my drain pours for oxidation, Diacetyl, Acetaldehyde or other brewing flaws.

FYI the hops are Equanot, Simcoe and Mosaic

I also reserve drainpours for milkshake, brut, hop burn, and a general swampy/sewage presence.

“the next batch”? Another collab with BW? Or KRBC batch?
Unfortunately I never made it to the Citra/Peak release party weekend. Fortunately I was able to try the BW/KRBC version brewed in LB. Last week I picked up both Citra and Peakbagger cans. I enjoyed both versions. And Citra too.
