The previous post from thrillho inspired me to start a thread about something unique in our own collections. Maybe your favorite stein, sign or tray, etc. The more unusual the better.

My contribution is this 1930's era nickel plated brass Tapster with opener. Before pop top cans you would drop in a can, push down the lid and pour. The can opener is attached to the lid. Found this many years ago in the basement of an abandoned duckpin bowling alley along with some antique beer bottles.

I always thought the coolest thing about the Tapster is that it was manufactured by the upscale Revere cookware company. Probably helps explain why so many survive even though they probably weren't very popular (especially if your favorite beer came in a cone top ).

Looks like they were originally sold for $2 in 1936*, but you could get it for half price mail order from Gimbels the following year (no extra charge for shipping! These things are heavy, too.)

    * Of course, $2.00 in 1937 equals $37.49 today :astonished: according to the DoL Inflation Calculator.

Love where the ad says "Remember the bridge club and order four". Yep, granny guzzling beer while arranging tricks.
