We all have our sleeper hits, which surprised us against all reviews and hype.

I have two sets that come to mind:

    1) Madewest Hazy IPA and Pale: Both are really excellent exemplars of he style, much better than the majority of widely available stuff in their genre, including Modern Times, Sierra Nevada, New Belgium, Firestone Walker, etc. I'd say they make the best widely produced hazy in Cali (9.99 for a four pack at td joes!), and their Pale is the best deal for a hoppy beer I can think of (7.99 a four pack in TD Joe's). Though hard to find fresh.

    2) Trader Joe's Plznr and Stockyard Oatmeal Stout: It doesn't get any better for 5.99. Very solid pils and oatmeal stouts. Their heffe isn't bad at all, actually.

Definitely Sierra Nevada Stout. Very overlooked but for the price it’s a very good one, and pretty available too.

Odell cut throat porter. So under rated that they discontinued it.

Well, according to my rDev scores on the ~2000 or so beers I’ve rated here, it is Coors Light. I’m at +26.1% on it!!

Highland Brewing IPA. I always thought is was an ok beer nothing special. We were in Asheville for for a weekend and it was on tap at Barleys where we always stop for a pie, man that beer was a sledgehammer of flavor, light, crisp, fruity, it really caught me off guard. Back then I wasn’t checking dates, so that’s the difference right there, fresh on tap vs cans of unknown age.

    Everyone sleeps on Weyerbacher Tiny.
I see bottles in the store so old that the glue on the labels are disintegrating.

My go-to when I see it on tap is Bronx Brewery's APA; I don't know why it isn't more highly rated.

Both are great and deserving of being named here. Sierra Nevada is what it is. Not much hyped anymore but still totally worthy overall.

Another beer that was and is always solid is Dales Pale Ale. One of my first craft beers and still tastes great today.

Unfortunately I don't think it can usually be found outside of Franconia. I'm not sure what their distribution is like, but it's pretty limited. Keesmann isn't tiny, but they aren't big.

I've found myself going back to Dale's more and more. It's great in so many ways. I've vowed to always have some in my fridge.

I really like SN Porter but it seems almost impossible to find Same for the Stout but apparently you can find it in France. Now f only we could travel again:slight_smile:
