And all too often the other Sierra Nevada brands at my local beer retailers were old as well.

While the word "always" is not completely accurate for my SN beer purchasing the majority of my SN beer purchasing in the recent past would be the seasonal variety packs. I would buy the seasonal variety packs because those beers would be fresh.

    Cheers!

Do they have the pull date listed on the bottles or do they have a set limit for their whole portfolio?
The first pack of stout and porter I bought this year was just shy of 3 months. Picked up another pack of stout two days ago.and it was a new batch bottled 2/20.
I'd happily drink either of those with 6-9 months on them

Due to how quickly trends change craft beer years are like dog years and you have to multiply by something to get the true number  But I do think that you are correct and '14 seems about right, as I kept an empty seasonal box because it was a good packing box and the date on it is 07/23/14 and the lineup was Tumbler, Vienna, Oktoberfest, Pale Ale (great pack!).

I haven't been drinking craft for much earlier than 2014. The big thing is the variety pack was the only way to get fresh SN.

To emphasize what @jesskidden posted (emphasis in bold):

“…the rest of our year-round and seasonal lineup, 150 days is our maximum recommended shelf life, assuming they’ve had optimal storage conditions (cool, dark, and dry).”

So, if the beers are stored cool (e.g., 50 – 55 °F) the beers are ‘good’ for 150 days (5 months). My local beer retailers store the vast majority of their beers at room temperature (which can be quite warm in the summertime) so even the metric of 150 days are not applicable here.

    Cheers!

I had stopped buying these for a while because they were all November dates. Recently a new batch with February dates showed up, so I'm buying again.

For me, I've been drinking craft beer since about 2007. I drank the occasional SNPA, but didn't buy many of their beers. The seasonal packs changed that. The pack ESHGB mentioned is the type of pack that had me buying much more of their beer. Vienna, Tumbler, oktoberfest, and pale is a great Fall pack. Much better for my taste than a pack that is 75-100% hoppy. So since they've been discontinued I'm back to rarely purchasing their beer. I crave the occasional IPA from them and buy Oktoberfest and Celebration.

I was thinking about it last night and sierra nevada has been getting a lot of my business in the last 6 months, Celebration, narwhal, bigfoot, porter, stout, ba narwhal, and snpa thrown in throughout as a solid daily fridge option. And damn, thanks sierra nevada.

Also, bring back the better mixed packs please

On the bright side it should be Summerfest season soon!

Cans would be most welcome. Last year was all/mostly all bottles. It did come out in cans 2 summers ago, although it was still 80/20 bottle v. can in my area.

I was lucky enough to grab a couple cases of cans last year. Definitely prefer that format.

Any update if Summerfest is on it's way this year?

SN mentioned on social media that the first shipments of this year's Summerfest rolled out of the breweries on 4/13. Should be hitting shelves soon. I'll be on the lookout as well.

My local distributor got in fresh SNPA (the retro bottles) and I was all excited to grab some. I asked the price and after that decided not to. It was $21 for a 12 pack. That’s absurd especially since I just bought 12 Waldos for $24.

If Summerfest is this same price, and I assume it will be, I will not be getting it.

Love SN’s quality, but the price in PA is ridiculous.

Yeah, I grabbed a 12 of the retro bottles last week for $19.99. I’m not crazy about the price either, but I hadn’t seen Pale Ale that fresh in forever. I usually get Summerfest by the case, hopefully that’ll save a couple bucks.

I bought several sixers of stout and porter in Lake Tahoe last summer. The beer is so good, I can't understand why we can't get it in Colorado.

@SierraTerence what's up with SN’s price point in PA? Was able to score some 12 packs of SN beers in NC for like $13 a few years ago.

    What date were yours bottled?

I already drank them all, so I’m not sure exactly. It was a March date, I want to say they were inside of a month old, maybe 3 weeks.
