Have a good Saturday. Been playing The Witcher 3 for 5 hours tonight, and still going. I had just finished a main part of the story when I quit before, but now I need to figure out where one of the main characters is hiding. There is no objection point to show me where to go, so I am going to every question marked point on the map and investigating everything; and I should get to the next objective step soon. Going in and slaying/looting bandit camps, and restoring towns back to the good people. Made a lot of side quest completions. Plenty of hidden pirate treasure with super powerful swords that I got. There is also a lot of random monsters in the wilderness that will just come in and kill you off in one hit, so I make sure to save often. Now that I am higher level, there is a lot of special moves that he can do in slow motion, ranging from cutting people in half to beheading them. It’s amazing, probably the best game I’ve played in my life.

Better Half is amazing as always. Flavors of huge caramel, brown sugar, maple syrup, toffee, bourbon, vanilla, coconut, toasted oak, golden raisin, plum, fig, apricot, cherry, red apple, and biscuit dough; with lighter notes of molasses, leather, herbal/grassy/peppery hops, and yeast earthiness. Similar aromas, a bit of booze as it warms, but not overwhelming. Light herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness; and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full body; very creamy/silky malts; some sticky hops, oak tannins; and light slickness in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter/tannic dryness, no cloying/astringency. Dangerously smooth, mildly increasing warmth of 12.7%, minimal barrel booze. This is just as impressive as I remember the first batch. Amazingly rich malt complexity, balanced fruity yeast, and perfect barrel integration; with solid earthy hop balance against sweetness. I think this showcases the maple syrup character better than CBS, easily. Feels more prominent. Base beer is one of my favorite old ales. I think they released more into the market recently, I’ll keep a look out to get more.

Been listening to a lot of Testament after yesterday’s album release. Been a while. They are my #8 most listened by track count.

Woke up at 4am for no reason even though I went to bed late. Looking for things to do and what sounds more reasonable than a 9+% Imperial Porter? I mean it does have coffee in it. Eff it, I'm going deep. I will be regretting this (just like I will my decision to subscribe to Tavour the other day) but oh well. This is one hell of a beer. Kane can do no wrong. Huge fan. I should have grabbed more bottles.

For some reason, this is usually one of my favorite beers to drink while watching The Walking Dead on a Sunday night. But since it’s a Saturday morning and I have nowhere to go, why not?

Incredible as usual this year. Aromas and flavors of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, berries, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate honey, white bread, light caramel malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation, medium-full bodied, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced creamy/bready malts and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter resin/rind dryness, no hop astringency. Amazing classic Columbus, Chinook, Centennial, Amarillo, Simcoe profile. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hop complexity; with a great balanced malt backbone. Not overly sweet or bitter, extremely well balanced. Lightly boozy alcohol, but dangerously easy drinking. Never disappoints. Feels less sweet than last year. Also a lot easier to find when released. Still on the shelf.

Good day BAs! So far, the weather is non-committal -not too cold or too warm, may or may not rain, clouds may or may not break up, etc. Today's New Breakfast Beer deserves committment:

Reorganized and consolidated my cellar (such that it is). Have found that 2-3 years is about all I want to age all but a few select beers, and in general don't really want to make much effort at all going forward.

Now that “work” is done, think this will be a drink all day day. And you know what they say about that...

    Gotta start early.

When I first had CBS, I thought it was a top 2-3 beer for me. Now I am not noticing a huge difference, although... it is a year old and the KBS is new. The GF liked CBS better by a little bit blind. I’m leaning ever-so-slightly to the fresh KBS.
