Anything by Weihenstephaner, specifically the Hefe, Vitus and Korbinian. They're always on the shelf at my local distro. People tend to sleep on the German brews a lot. I've heard that Paulaner Munich Gold and Hacker Pschorr Weisse are showing up in cans, haven't seen that around these parts yet though.

Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier and Unibroue La Fin du Monde. They were the first German hefe and tripel that I had respectively and they are still the best of their styles.

I dunno about MOST underrated, but Zywiec Porter is passed up all the time on shelves in my area, which is fine by me.

I think this has been said earlier in this thread, but lagers in general. It really irks me that so many amazing lagers are rated lowly here (less of a issue) and untappd. The fact that the Standard by Notch and Pilsner Urquell have a less than 4 rating on unptappd is gross misunderstanding of brewing. Hell, I think Becks is underrated as well. Rate to style folks!!!!!

I got some a few weeks ago at 8 bucks a sixer. Crazy.

I did a sort by rDEV and most of my top 50 are AALs or various macro/Euro lagers. Some that are easy to find that I found outstanding by other styles:

Sixpoint Jammer - one of the most balanced and well made standard Gose's out there and that is easy to find.
    Tenacious Traveler Shandy
    Shiner Blonde
Augustiner Bräu Munchen Light Export Beer (Helles Lager) - one of my favorites...a little pricey though.

Agree 100% with Becks. Its a very tasty Euro lager.

I'd personally include Odell Red with it too, probably my favorite beer of theirs.

As someone who doesn't buy variety packs and does not live in the area any more, that does me no good.

2019 was a shitty year for stouts and porters for me with Odell's Cutthroat Porter and Marble's Oatmeal Stout both kicking the can. Those were, no exaggeration, my 2 go to stout/porter go to's, and I have not found a replacement for them.

Agreed. I have an empty of the OG red for sentimental reasons in the whale graveyard. As a side note at least you have Santa fe java stout. What a great beer.

Got to be honest, Java Stout is one beer I have really slept on. I

And I miss the bottle art for the Odell Red just as much as the beer.

I have no issues with Santa Fe's packaging. Nothing special, but don't think it's bad or anything.

Ultimately, it's just a touch higher in ABV than I seek out for an everyday type drinker which is why it's not been on my radar. But Santa Fe has been one of the most improved brewers down here over the past few years (though I did hear the brewer responsible for their improvement has bolted) so I'll revisit this one next time I am in the market for new beer and a stout.

For now, I have a fridge full of beer and I haven't been drinking. 3 days shy of 30 days dry. So by the time I ready to refill my fridge, I probably wont be seeking a big stout.

    Preach!

I couldn't agree more. About three years ago I went on a huge German beer drinking spree trying everything I could. Classic German beers give you so much appreciation for how diverse a beer can taste with only 4 ingredients. It was a true eye opener and I'm with you, weihenstephaner is just unbelievably well brewed beer.

Camping onto your post I would say that weihenstephaner original is their most underrated beer. I wish American macro lagers had its depth.

Totally agree, their helles does not get enough credit. First time I really started drinking German brews is when I realized maybe sometimes adding a truck full of hops in a beer doesn’t always make it a great beer.

I wouldn’t think the Hefe sneaks up on anyone, that is a legit top 10 beer in my book.

Agreed, maybe not so much the hefe as the others then. That one at least gets a good amount of appreciation.

But your thought to Weistephaner is a pretty good bet as is anything from Germany. They get the worst shelf space in a few beer stores I go to. How can you sell what people can’t find, or they’re old and shitty.
