Anyone looking for a reason to be hopeful right now may take comfort in the knowledge that @jrnyc not only survived the Spanish flu of 1918 but the Great Bubonic Plague of the 14th Century as well, back when he was a regular at Weihenstephan.

That asteroid which killed all the dinosaurs? He brushed that one off, too.

Take heart, friends. Darkness comes and goes. Life is resilient.

Just for perspective - I was born 5 years after the Islanders last Stanley Cup. And somehow I’m still a die hard fan after 30+ years of futility. However, I still remember potato chips/doritos at 25 cents a bag.

On a beer related note, I drank my last cans of Green City and Forever Simcoe last night. GC is such a great IPA I would have no issues if it was the only OH beer I could drink from here on out. FS on the other hand - this batch was way too sweet.

Had a can of triple cream today. Really don’t get the hype of this one. Never thought it was anything mind blowing and once again it’s really sweet. They do many other triples better than this.

Picked up cans of Green City today and man... this tastes great. Better than the drafts I’ve had at multiple bars around the hood. Won’t pass on this one again. Happy to also have ddhDMD again. It’s been a minute.

@jrnyc I was a sophomore in college when the Rangers swept the Islanders in the first round en route to their first cup in 54 years, but any Islanders fan around me would only have to remind me about the 4 in a row and I never had much to say after that. (Except broom emoji )

So this Space Diamonds that’s available....is this a brand new batch? Or leftovers from 2 weeks ago?

One more thing... this ddh DMD is one of their best batches in a long time. Mosaic funk done smooth and creamy. It’s great.

completely agree, and I used to feel like DMD was my favorite beer they made but in the last year or so I thought it’s been not good at all. Might be a new Mosaic crop or something but yes this newest batch is a return to form.

#OHhateslocals alert: Space Diamonds is available to be delivered to Manhattanites. However it is not available for locals who walk/drive to the brewery

wait so there is beer signified for delivery only and you can't buy if you walk up to the brewery? that seems dumb, IMO. You should always be able to buy anything they have onsite, if they want to limit delivery selection to specific beer, thats fine.

yeah it seems that way. I mean I get it in the sense that they need to plan for their deliveries. but still X amount should be reserved for brewery pick up. maybe that was the case and they already sold through that allotment

Unless OH really does love locals and wants to encourage their remaining in isolation by prioritizing favorites for delivery in an attempt to get people to go that route vs. visiting the brewery (which also reduces the risk to their staff).

It's all really confusing. I'm down to 2 cans in my fridge (6th Anni of course) and was thinking of grabbing some more. My apartment was literally 1 block outside of the last delivery zone so that wasn't an option. I was gonna either walk or run over, but looking at how constantly packed the sidewalks are from my window I'm thinking that's not really a smart move anymore.

I was considering grabbing a bike and swinging by after work one day, but I don't really want to go through the effort of doing so, showing up and only being able to buy some fruit juice or stout. I haven't been following as much as I've used to, but it's hard to figure out what they have at any given time.

If that is truly the rationale (and while they have navigated COVID admirably, I remain skeptical) then they should just move to a delivery-only model that covers the whole city instead of staging it.

A reserve-the-dregs-only-for-desperate-locals approach doesn’t quite sit with me
