What beer are you drinking now? #2724

Nice pour. I have a new pour for me, that I will also post in the New Beer Sunday thread once it is up and running.



Mrs. O'Leary's Chocolate Milk Stout with Raspberries from one of my favorite breweries in Chicago, Spiteful Brewery. This is a 16 oz can packaged 11/13/19. 7% ABV, two pours into a large snifter.

Appearance: Pitch black pour, creamy bubbly rich tan head leaves generous creamy lacing. 4.5

Aroma: Nice slightly sweet aroma, milk chocolate and roasted malt lead, raspberries linger in the background, nice blend. 4.0

Taste: Bolder than the aroma, raspberries much more pronounced, followed by roasted malt. Milk chocolate and vanilla follow. This mixture would lead one to conclude this is a very sweet milk stout, but that is not the case as this is really well balanced by the fine roasted malt, a nice counter to the sweeter components. Very well done! 4.5

Mouthfeel: Rich, silky smooth, very creamy. Mild fizzy carbonation prevalent throughout the pour. The 7% abve makes its presence felt, but not overwhelming. Easy clean smooth finish. 4.5

Overall: Outstanding milk stout, another great Spiteful pour! 4.5

Have a good Sunday. Been up all night playing RPGs as usual. Got past the place in Skyrim (the Ratway) I was stuck on before. Now I am stuck on a boss battle with a Draugr Overlord. Played 2 hours of that, then a few more hours of the Witcher 3, still exploring the map right now. Still haven't reached any objective points so far.

Bell's Light Hearted. Excellent Session IPA. Great rocky head retention/spotty foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, honeydew melon, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine hops; with moderate cracker, toasted biscuit malts; and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation, light-medium body, and fairly crisp/clean finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malts and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing resin dryness, no hop astringency. Very flavorful/refreshing, not watery for 3.7%. Awesome Centennial/Galaxy profile. Very vibrant, dank, earthy, and fairly juicy hops; with a nice clean pale malt backbone for the ABV. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp resin dryness. No complaints! Would have been ok just to keep it 100% Centennial hops, but the Galaxy adds some nice complexity to it that I really enjoy. 4

Woke up early to do yardwork and after busting my ass for a couple hours I decided it isn't to early for a beer. I'm a good boy who follows instructions so "Drink it from the can!" it is.

 

I went to the contactless 450 North release pickup yesterday and the first three beers are really good

Gloomy morning...felt a few rain drops while walking the dogs earlier...practically nothing, but first precipitation here in weeks, and we need a good heavy rain or two to wash in all the oak pollen which is itchy to the dogs...

First beer up is absolutely delicious - Westbrook’s “Maple Bourbon BA Mexican Cake” (2018):



Think CBS, or Morning Wood (without the adjuncts), with lots of bourbon and hot tamales sauce. Perhaps the best “Cake” variant I’ve had from Westbrook yet...working on notes for NBS. Cheers y’all, and have a great Sunday!
