Yes but only for the top 4. And honestly I just got it in a trade so I’m not super sure I really want to do it, so maybe I should have put it there. But those 4 seem hard to turn down for, no?
Ya and most batches of Art are trading above most on the 36++ list. Kbbs 2019 is trading fairly close to BBT b3 right now. So should most recent handjee and anabasis.
Thanks man, appreciate that. I actually think I’d rather try BBT, but my ridiculous goal of drinking each of the Beer Advocate top 250 is screwing me over, now that BBT is retired and no longer on the list. What are the chances it comes out of retirement to rejoin said list?
Absolutely drink what you want! Think the reason it is now retired is because each batch is really a different blend.
If drinking top 250 is your main goal BBTb3 will get you a KBBS. KBBS was worth the hype for me. But........if you never had BBT you're missing out Choose wisely, LOL
Or.....try to find someone who has KBBS near you and do a share. Best of both worlds. (Please do this after coronavirus blows over though).
I can’t even understand the post Retired? Why would that be? If it’s been out three years in a row isn’t there a reason to believe it will be out again in year four? Or is it since there are slight variations to the beer with barrels and aging that it doesn’t qualify because of that?
It's because people are entering them as vintages here like it's untappd, instead of a base beer. So each vintage was only a one time release, it will drop off as no longer active.
It was on the list until, idk when, but fairly recently. Why would they decide now to not consider it a base beer? Is it bc untapped literally took over BA? You don’t think, should they release a 2020 BBT, it will go back on the list?
Has nothing to do with the companies. It's the people entering them. And then the algorithm on BA sees the way they are entered and determines whether they remain active or not. When someone enters them as a one-off, that will drop off as retired automatically. Now that there are 3 vintages of BBT on here, that's likely to be the way it will be. SP prides themselves in really lengthily differentiating their batches so they too are in part to blame for their beer not remaining on the top active 250. Consumers are really encouraged to think of them as entirely different entries altogether. Personally I think that's how BA beers are produced at a lot of breweries (well I don't just think, I know that recipes and barrel blending vary year to year for a beer with the same name but common end goal--but most breweries don't go to such lengths to differentiate them and vintage-ify them like wine) so on a site like BA it should all be one beer, but that seems to have lost out for BBT. You can see 2018 and 2019 were entered on the same day so I would hazard a guess that at that time someone reported 2017 to be a separate beer, had it updated to have a unique name, while also adding or reporting 2018 and 2019 vintages. If 2020 BBT will be released and receives a large number of ratings, that are also high, it may be back on the list for a short while, but since they are listed as one-offs, it may not have time to get on there anymore. It will easily make it onto the top rated new beers list, as 2019 is still on there. Ultimately, if you haven't ever had any BBT, I don't know why you wouldn't drink it. Like someone else said, try to get a whale share going. You'll have far more rare beers during that than you can get aiming for other similar level beers. I personally never trade a limited beer I haven't had before.
This. You wanted that BBT and you probably traded a lot for that BBT. Who says you’ll come across another one? Now you’re going to turn around and trade it without ever having it? Drink it. A bird in hand is worth two in the bush.
This recently happened with HF Clover. Taken off the 250 list because someone added a new vintage. Kinda dumb though because people already rated both vintages under the original listing. So now the ratings/reviews areant accurate for the vintages listed. I wish they would stop separating vintages, as it makes the top 250 compromised. This is one of the things that makes BA better than untapped.
I partially disagree with this. I do think it creates inaccurate raitings on the separate vintages, however, think it allows for a better top 250 list to remove beers that have different threads of beer in each vintage. Clover is a good example where the two vintages are drastically different. It is hard to compare blend 1 with Flora, Art, and Ann with blend 2 that is only Art, and Ann. Same goes with BBT as Cory king calls out the variations between batches. Others that I think fall into this are Zenne, OGV, The Peach. I do agree with @Sabtos in the regard that most BA beers are never the same year after year - but I think most of those are fairly harder to detect than the beers above. Thinking beers like Rusty Nail, bbomb, Aaron, Sucaba, bomb!, BA bomb!, etc...
