Trading, or engaging in any activity with @joe1510 is ill-advised. He's rumored to be either a Russian bot, a cthulhu, or a homeless stalker with an edge.

I tried this beer this evening and it was pretty good. If you are looking for an old-school IIPA you'll definitely enjoy this. I grabbed a four pack since the price was decent and Founders never disappoints me and I will enjoy drinking through the rest of them.

Bottled 03/10/20. Typical IIPA to me and I didn't find it to be overly sweet and it's nicely balanced and complex, on the palate kind of flows as hoppy sweet hoppy, ends pretty cleanly and dryly.

    Same thoughts completely.
    A very well done/rounded DIPA.
Perfect balance of hops and malts.
I stand corrected on the overly sweet assumption.

Yep! I was a little skeptical because I don't drink as many IIPAs these days (and for those wondering I am not using DIPA because they call it an Imperial IPA on the bottle ) but this is like drinking a regular IPA, the 9.2% is very well hidden.

If you're tired of hazies and looking for something a little more classic, I highly recommend this beer.

I wasn’t thrilled by it, but for $2.50 a bottle it was worth a shot. Overall, too confused for me.

    Sorry to hear that.
Although I wasn't blown away by it.
It was a great change of pace from what is the norm of what is being brewed now a days. :beers:

I very much liked it. To me it's in line with six point resin, hop juju, or Waldo. Maybe slightly less bitter than those but has the stickiness of them for sure.

I thought of Hop Ju Ju and Resin as well. This one four pack will be enough for me (I can tire of DIPAs quickly) but I will gladly be drinking through the rest. And it was only $11.99 too so for my area a decent price.

I’d just be patient and age it, then revisit it later and it’ll be an American barley wine

I thought this was very good. I'd like to be able to try it next to Double Trouble though, because based on memory, I think it is pretty much the same.

This landed at Norfolk TW, but be damned if I'm paying 19 bucks for a 4 pack of 12 ounce DIPA (most 16 oz 4 packs are 13-17)

Also $10 in my neck of the woods. I'm thinking the $20 price tag is a mistake.

I tried this for the first time Saturday. It was bottled March 10th, kept refrigerated at the point of sale (The Beer Temple - $10.99 + tax for the four pack). I really liked this offering, one of my favorite DIPAs and I am very glad I came across it.

This beer reminded me of Hopslam in texture, but 4 Giants sweetness was balanced by bitterness. Review Notes follow:

Appearance: Poured in chalice, clear tan pour, mild carbonation throughout. Creamy bubbly
tan head leaves light loose bubbly ring around the grass edge, no lacing. 4.25

    Aroma:
Moderate sweet malt aroma, light floral backing. 3.75

    Taste:
Very hoppy, sweetness offset by bold bitterness which wins out. Very dry, nice pine and floral taste leads, the sweetness balanced by pleasant hop bitterness. Outstanding pour! 5.0

    Mouthfeel:
Very rich and creamy mouthfeel, faint fizzy carbonation lingers throughout. Full rich body goes down very smooth, stronger ABV (9.2% 80 IBU) makes its presence known after a few sips. 4.5

    Overall:
This imperial IPA is really well crafted. I am so happy to have picked this up! Excellent pour Founders! 4.5.

I was thinking the same thing when I drank my first one Friday. I remember DT being a little maltier but it's been over a year since I had it.

Overall, I thought 4G was great.

Was never a fan of these really big DIPAS, or Triples whatever. It’s hard to support 10-11% abv and have any type of balance. It’s one reason oldie but goodie beers like Heady Topper and Pliny are still on the top beers list. You need that snap of bitterness to balance the malt or it gets sweet, and hoppy doesn’t necessarily mean bitter. I just think much above 8% it gets a bit tricky, one beer I really like is Shape of Hops from Neshaminy Creek, and it like 8.5, but I swear it used to be like 9.3 or so, but it always had that bitter side that makes it a great beer. Stuff like DD and the like I never cared for.

Anyone know the four 'Giants' for the recipe? Obviously Double Trouble, but can't figure out the other three.
