I put a cap on it after pouring one serving. I read your review as I sipped on it. The ABV is right where I like BBA stouts. The only BBA stouts I ever believed were too hot were from The Bruery, and they were close to 20% ABV. Darkness has so many more flavors going on than other stouts to begin with, and the barrel-aging makes the flavors pop even more. The bourbon flavor definitely is strong, but that is what I want. This is the third best barrel-aged stout that I have had, after BA Expedition Stout, then 2019 BCBS.

Chillin' with Chillswitch by Magic Hat. A flavorful, malty Wheat IPA with a touch of spice. Really delicious. Let me call your attention to the black band along the bottom:

Just to clarify, I wasn't commenting on the ABV as such, but the heat - a side effect of the ABV, to be sure, but one that is usually better controlled to allow the flavors themselves to be front and center..

Ok, went for a little walk after finding out that apparently I can't pick videos to post here, either. I'll probably misspell words and use poor grammar in this post. Regadless, on the walk we saw...

Tasty enough so far, but sometimes a full 16oz of cloud juice can wear on me. I got a Pilsner to back this up, just in case.

I thought that was the case, but my personal preference is a stronger alcohol presence. I still got the same flavors that I usually enjoy in regular Darkness, so it only added to the overall package, for me. It will be interesting to see our thoughts on the younger version. We may be more in agreement tomorrow.

My neighbor has a massive pink dogwood tree (the white flowered tree posted) in their backyard. Beautiful blooms but they haven't fully taken off up here yet.

I’m guessing this happened a while ago as I’ve been out of the BA loop for years at this point, but that Surly rebranding with that new Ba Darkness label super lame.

Stellar beer though, from what I remember.

Yeah, our state tree, so they're around here quite a bit. The flowers in the neighborhood seem just a tad wilted to me for some reason or another. I didn't pay attention as to when they really started coming in, but I seem to think things kicked off around here a few weeks ago.

Completed “contactless” drop-offs to sons in upper Manhattan and Queens. ( We are all staying home). There was No traffic. I don’t drive fast, but even so, that was the quickest trip through the NYC metro and back home since ~ 1964 (wasn’t driving then). This, appropriately is my last 01-01-2020. -no 04-20-20 nearby. Cheers

Wheat Thrice from Brix Brewing in Little Ferry, NY. My last can from there: here's wishing them well. Would head back in a heartbeat. Looking forward to when we all can.

In the meantime, Stay Safe. Sláinte!
