Have a good Monday. Been learning Mastodon riffs all night. Raised the tuning of my guitar to D standard. It stays in tune remarkably well when I down tune it. It was barely a few cents flat on all strings when I checked it tonight. Haven’t tuned it in a few months at least. Was thinking about throwing Burly Slinky strings 11-52 on there if I feel like going to C standard for a while. I have Regular Slinky 10-48 and it was getting a little too bendy. I like it more bendy than most would call standard tension. Plus less chance to break a string. I’ve almost been playing guitar(off and on) for 20 years. Always used Ernie Ball strings. There is something special about them.

Aside from that, have plenty of games to work on today. Unemploment still giving me the cold shoulder, the assholes. Only a handful of new beers to review left. Plus a few big boozy Bruery bottles in the cellar. Haven’t bought any new beer in over a month. No beer shortage even for the apocalypse for me, I have over $2k of commercial beer in my closet cellar, plus 10-15 gallons of homebrew in kegs.

Founders Unraveled. Awesome IPA. Lasting fluffy head retention/thick foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine hops; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bread dough, light biscuit/toasted malts; and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; balanced creamy/bready/grainy malts, sticky hops, and some resins/rins in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing resin dryness, no hop astringency. Very smooth/soft, not overly aggressive, minimal warming 6.6%, no lingering hop burn after the finish. Fantastic Amarillo, Azacca, Mosaic and Simcoe profile. Extremely juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a great clean wheat/oat/malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. This was definitely exceptional, loved the hop profile. Will get another 6 pack easily.

I just found out VOLA has 2 EP I’ve never listened before. This song is a great 8 string jam.

    Howdy dudes and dudettes.

It’s been a good, sunny and warm yet painful weekend. My tooth cavity was being really painful right at midnight on Saturday and that night has been pretty crappy. Not sure if the dentist if operating these days but I’ll call him later in the afternoon. If anything one of his colleagues might still be on duty for emergencies.

Doing slightly better this morning and sipping on Bel Air Sour from the respected Brooklyn brewery:

I bought a holiday three pack plus glass from Samuel Smith at Trader Joe's before Christmas.. I only had one of their beers before, the Oatmeal Stout, and that is what I poured today.

Sadly, I didn't know the owner of Samuel Smith was such a scrotum, only learned of it after my purchase. Will finish the other two pours and that will be that.

Have a great BEER day today!

I learned how to hybrid pick for the first time last night in about 15 minutes. Found an exercise tab online and went through it pretty quickly. My picking technique makes it completely natural feeling for me to pluck with any fingernail. :nerd: I will be able to shred the technique once I learn more stuff to use it with. Will help a lot with string skipping.

Arclight Soursmith Apple. Amazing as expected. Solid fluffy head retention/minimal spotty lacing. Aromas and flavors of huge juicy/sour/tangy red/green apples, fruit peel, lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, white grape/wine, hay, straw, and grass; with moderate honey, wheat, white bread dough malt sweetness; with lighter notes of oak, vanilla, pepper, leathery/musty/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. SLight plastic/vinegar in the aromas, but goes away as it warmed. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, fruit tang, and light tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation/body, and fairly crisp finishing; balanced creamy/grainy wheat, lactic acid, fruit tang, and light tannins in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing acidic/tangy dryness, zero pucker. Very refreshing, not overly lactic, zero warming 6%. Wow, really hitting it out of the park. Unique as it is much lower in ABV than most of the series, but still nails everything! I have never reviewed a Soursmith below 4.3. I have 2 more in the fridge. I need to get back to my main beer store and get some more flavors! 4.35

I've been listening to Mastodon all night basically. Got 3 songs in mind to learn fully. Already got some of the riffs laid down. This is the first. I have about 75% of the riffs learned.

Seems a good bet - around here dentists are closed but if it's an emergency then one will come into the office to deal with you - just call first so they know you're coming.

Good day BAs! Starting off sunny and warm today - hope it continues. My local State store (State monopoly on hard alcohol) will be sort of reopening today - 4 hours of telephone orders if you can get through. But Jamestown, NY, is only an hour's drive so that may be a better option. I'm out of scotch and the rye and absinthe are nearly gone. My local beer distributor may be getting Lawson's in today, if they can find a truck driver to deliver it. Today's New Breakfast Beer:

Haven’t been drinking in the morning recently with the working from home thing, but since it’s 4/20 and I have some Waldo’s, I will make an exception.

Oskar Blues One-y. Excellent session NEIPA. Nice fluffy head retention/spotty foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew, watermelon, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, red apple, wood, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation, light-medium body, and fairly crisp/clean finish. Balanced creamy/bready/grainy wheat, sticky hops, and some resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing resin dryness, no hop astringency. Very flavorful/refreshing, not aggressive, not watery for 4%. Great El Dorado, Comet, Citra, Mosaic, and French Aramis profile. Very vibrant and fairly juicy/dank/earthy hops; with a great clean pale/wheat malt backbone for the ABV. Mild residual sweetness with crisp dryness. No complaints.

An easy start to 420. DbC - love the balance of chocolate, malt, bitter nibs, and just a touch of coconut on this. Really eases on the hop bite after 4-5 months (which is fine by me for this style). These keep well for about a year, a huge advantage during these times. These have about 6 months now on them, and I still love the tropical-roast morning impression.

Also, the girls are pretty adamant about wishing you a "Happy 420, smokers!"
    Cheers.

I had to pause my review when I realized it was just too cold. $7/6 pack at Aldi and better than the sampling of popular American bocks I tried last fall. Cheers all!
