Hit my 24 now Covid induced 20 hour taco joint before close,

Paired the tacos with these two Gose style pours:

First go at Beer for Tacos by Off Color. I like several Off Color offerings, but this Gose was OK, wouldn't seek out again (3.75, 3.5, 3.0, 3.5, 3.25). The Prairie Grass Dividing was bottled 7/10/19, my final bottle from the six pack which somehow became hidden in the back of the refrigerator until I found it today. This is a solid gose and held up well.

Reviewing Indiana reopening news and hopeful to get a haircut and some 3 Floyds in the next week or two. A cheap flight to Georgia (SEC Georgia, not the Eurasia one) is my fallback. Never thought I would have to leave the state for a haircut, but here we are. Will take my long nap soon, then up for some more beer and walking action later today. I wish you all a prosperous and delicious Beer Thursday.

Have a good Thursday. Started watching Monk tonight from the beginning, as I’d been meaning to do that. I watched the whole series through in a few months on Netflix 5 something years ago. Psych marathon is continuing today 6AM to tomorrow 2PM again. Will keep it on as I game. Seasons 5/6. Both are on Amazon Prime for free with the subscription, so I am getting my money’s worth. Also wanting to start House over again as I lost my place a while ago, Amazon has that too. Sweet. I started a game of Call Of Duty 2 tonight, I always kick ass with the carbine rifles. Might start Borderlands 1 later. I had a random itch to play a WWII game sometime last week.

Elysian Contact Haze. Excellent NEIPA. Great fluffy head retention/foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew, watermelon, red apple, coconut, guava, blueberry, raspberry, currant, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine hops; with moderate cracker, white bread dough, biscuit, light toasted malts; and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Light pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, minty, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, fairly sticky, and lightly resinous/rindy mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 6%, or lingering hop burn after the finish. Awesome El Dorado, Mosaic, Southern Passion, Sabro, Citra, and Sultana profile. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a nice oat/malt backbone. Mild residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. No complaints, meets all expectations.

Following the FW XVII with a Founders Dankwood and another ROS: Widmer Snow Plow (bomber, 2010 or so?). For less than 6%, it's held up well..

Good day BAs! Off to another cold start but it doesn't really matter - today's laundry day. The first load is about to go into the dryer, towels are on deck, and the whites are marinating. Today's New Breakfast Beer is kind of local:

Fair to middling NEIPA.That breakup you see over the ABV is the (canned or BB?) date.

Surly Abrasive. Amazing as usual, glad they are in the state now. Aromas and flavors of huge tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, pine, honey, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Good sized pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; balanced creamy/bready malt and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing resin dryness; minimal lingering hop astringency. Fantastic Citra showcase. Supper juicy, vibrant, dank, and earthy hops; with a nice sized bready malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness.

Hello BA's! It's a bit rainy this morning here in the SW corner of OH. Not enough to make me wanna go inside, but enough to be mildly annoying. Drinking a West Side Brewing West Coast IPA...

Finishing off last night’s bottle - Marshal Zhukov’s Russian Imperial Stout (2018) by CCB:

Black with ruby edges pour; dark tan rocky head; good cap retention; solid ring; large island of micro dots after cap dissipates; medium minus lacing; thin plus legs. Roast malt, char, chocolate and sweet fruity nose. Tongue follows nose; layers of bittersweet dark chocolate, chocolate, plums, oak, toasted black bread; mix of bitter chocolate and sweet dark fruit finish. Grainy, dusty tongue coating; medium plus body; moderate minus carbonation; very little warmth from 11% abv. Overall a great RIS - well balanced and no hint of the booze in nose or on tongue; lots of roast and char bitterness (70 IBUs), bittersweet chocolate, and sweet dark fruit layers; a tad thin, but that is a plus as the beer is not adjuncty and quite enjoyable; throw in reasonably priced at $14.99 for a bomber, and you’ve got an outstanding “win/win” beer.

Pulled out my final Navaja (canned 2/20/20), not as cutting as my first three drunk within 3-6 weeks of canning, this one has mellowed quite a bit, perhaps drinking in the early morning it's not such a bad thing but I prefer the full taste of a fresh Navaja. Time for a long nap, but not before a few tunes.

Had to decide on what to have following a CCB RIS, for my breakfast...I choose “French Toast” Imperial Stout by Wicked Weed:

Bottled 8/5/19. Brewed with cinnamon, vanilla and maple syrup...

At 56 degrees pours dark brown/ruby with a creamy dark beige cap/some rocks; streaming carbonation; very good cap retention; heavy ring; medium lacing; medium minus legs. Nose is vanilla, maple syrup and cinnamon. Taste is mostly cinnamon; followed by chocolate, vanilla, and maple; more cinnamon as beverage warms. Medium minus body, moderate minus carbonation; no warmth from 8.8% abv; spicy (cinnamon) tongue coating. Overall, more cinnamon than I want, and out of balance; the nose was vanilla/maple forward, but the spicy cinnamon crushed those flavors on the taste...like when Xocoveza went overboard with cinnamon a few years ago; and the thin mouth feeling gravitates to a rare, for me, negative overall score.

Nice morning shots, great beer of course, where you at in Chicago? Norwood Park? Edison Park? Hang in there... miss our Chicago time. Lived in Old Town and in Roscoe Village (respectively) for several months at a time; still miss it. Cheers!

Lived in three homes my entire life:
    Birth - 20s Belmont-Cragin
20s-30s Lakeview (Waveland & Robey (Damen))
    30s-50s Norwood Park

Finley Dunnes was my bar in Lakeview, no breweries around back in the day (was a whiskey (year round) and Budweiser (summer) / Guinness (Fall - Spring) guy back then). Now there are over a dozen within a couple of miles where I lived.

Quieter here (well except for the airplanes though Covid has put a cramp on 90% of flights). Property taxes much less than in Lakeview. Not planning another move. Never been outside the city for more than 18 consecutive days. You can say I am parochial.

Nice! Finley was a great place, went there twice I think 2017, then got quickly hooked on 4 Moons Tavern in R.V. (I mean, apart from straight to brewery visits). Cheers... be well.
