What beer are you drinking now? #2745

Good day BAs. Off to a damp start today - some overnight rain but nothing now. Another day with nothing exciting to do - Noir Alley at 1000, debarking more apple logs with a knife afterwards, etc. Yesterday I tried mowing the yard but gave up after 45 minutes - I couldn't tell where I'd mowed and where I hadn't. Today's Breakfast Beer is, appropriately enough, Neshaminy Creek's Fruhstuck Stout (sans umlauts):



Really pleasing cocoa and coffee 10% ABV stout. Untapped says it has been discontinued but BA lists it as current.

 

getting out at first light to babysit the fish - a Great Blue Heron has been making early morning visits - looks like this is the only Sunshine i'll see today.....

Been waiting a few days for something new. This is 7% $13.99 and canned on 4/6/2020. Heading over to New Beer Sunday to describe it. We got a treat over on that page today, because @cavedave looks like he started it this Sunday. He was in charge of opening that when I first made that my favorite weekly thread. Cheers all.

 

I am sitting in my backyard drinking Focal Banger a New England IPA, and Heady Topper Double New England IPA ABV 8.00%, IBU 75, both from the Alchemist, and both top ranked. The flavors tropical fruit, grapefruit and mango, citrus, and then a piney hoppy taste towards the end. Both are juicy and dank. However, there's more tropical fruit flavor, especially citrus, in Focal Banger but Heady Topper has a more significant piney/grapefruit rind bitter hop bit at the end. Focal Banger has a slightly lighter body. They are both delicious. I think I prefer Heady Topper a bit more but these two made my evening.

Golden Prairie Doppel Alt (brewed at Argus Brewing) is my first selection for the day. I posted a New Beer Sunday review as well. I really enjoyed this pour, which tasted like a nice fresh dark rye loaf from the oven after cooling.

This beer won the Gold Medal at the 2018 GABF, and I am not surprised. Hopefully they will continue brewing at a new location. They are brewing out of Argus, which just announced their closure on Monday.

Freshest Cigar City I've ever gotten here in the midwest.

 

A friend of mine works at the Bud plant and gave me some of his free beer. What happened to this company? Just not brewing anything that stands out these days. Not terrible, but very forgettable.

A cup of joe before making pancakes for the kids. This beer is delicious. Rich coffee, chocolate, vanilla and barrel notes. The creamy mouthfeel is fantastic. I may like this better than the OG. Cheers, BAs!
