Not our call... That's up to the distributor, but we did raise price by a ~$1/6pack on some brands... notably Hazy Little Thing.

When did you raise the price for HLT? Still around $10 where I live.

I assume the new 4x3 packs were bottled this month or last month. Feb 20 is over 2 months ago at this point, but it is good to know that there are still some relatively fresh 6x2 packs still out there.

Just wondering how we pay around $18-22 plus tax for core 12 packs and I can get them for $15 out the door the next state over. You say its not your call. Are you saying that the PA middle man is charging and extra $5 to the retail distributor? The beer spot I shop just changed owners after many many years. The old owner told me that the price I paid for SN at retail in another state was less than he paid for his SN. Individual six packs are a never buy as they are $11-14 for SNPA. I was buying them for $7.99 in DE plus I had a $1 off coupon.

I dont know how much the Philly area is to your sales but I do not buy more than a lone 12 pack or two a year anymore. Just much too expensive for what I get compared to other options. If I could pay $15 a 12 I would probably buy your beer weekly, I would keep stout from going extinct during the cool months.

BA Narwal seems to be the same price here, within a $1 or so of any other place in America. As a supposed year round I have seen zero since the first drop and my spot had at least 6 cases. The core is where we get over charged. Big foot was $48 a case here(is Bigfoot limited now?), I was only able to get a six pack as my retail shop could not get much at all. I even special ordered a case. Just dont understand how core can be so close to Bigfoot prices here.

If you have any pull here I would bet you sell much more beer with a price decrease. In todays beer world selling more would be vital. Till prices do go down my $ goes elsewhere 99.9% of the time.

    Enjoy

I’m with you on this. Hate to admit it, but I bought a 12 pack of fresh SNPA this week. If I can keep finding this fresh, I will spend the ~$20 on it - prefer it at $15, but that doesn’t look promising. Forgot how good this is and it’s the perfect beer IMO.

Anyone know if the Draught-Style cans can be purchased in the US? Looked it up online and it looks like other countries that have them? I saw the pics of them on Untappd and now I’m quite interested.

Is there a way to filter or block PA posters in SN threads? Just kidding! But please, why don't you guys just start a master PA SN pricing thread and have at it?

Ah I was waiting for this and knew that it wouldn't be long :stuck_out_tongue: I am not sure that a separate thread is necessary because at this point what else can be said really? But on the same token every SN thread doesn't need to head in this direction either so I do understand where others are coming from (but we did get some good information about pricing from Terence in this thread so there's that).

At least I found Summerfest today and at $10.49 a six pack of bottles not too bad for PA I suppose (I am trying here ha ha), also noticed a 12 pack of cans. No, I didn't pick any up yet because I have some other Pilsners in my fridge and I will drink up a few of those first.

I noticed last year that we seemed to have gotten one big shipment that stuck around for months so if you want it on the fresher side better buy it soon in case that happens again.

Saw this with Celebration this past year. Distributor bought too much up front I guess.

And I have noticed the same with the collaboratively brewed Oktoberfest beers the past few years. Origlio would obtain one huge shipment (because Sierra Nevada offers discount pricing to the Wholesale Distributors if you buy big I presume) and those beers would sit at non-air conditioned Retail Beer Distributors starting in July. What a crazy method of distribution for a beer intended to be consumed at the end of September till October.

    Non-cheers to this stuff.:slight_frown:

    Jack,

Do you think most craft beer drinkers look for dates like we do? Or do you think we are in the minority?

From what I see we are in the minority, most people just grab and go.

If this is the case and I were Origlio, I’d do the same thing. And obviously we and others are buying it - we just buy it in the “fresher” stages.

I suspect that @ESHBG is correct that we are the minority. But this presents an issue for those beer consumers who are not conscientious in checking dates. An 'average' beer consumer could just purchase what is on the retailers' shelf, drink the beer and say: "Sierra Nevada makes sucky beer. I will never buy beer from them again. Instead I will buy beer from Brewery B in my hometown since they make good beer." The real issue here was not that Sierra Nevada produces beer that sucks but that it was too old. For business reasons Sierra Nevada should want to ensure the beer on the retailers' shelves are fresh and in good shape (or lose business to other breweries such as small, local breweries).

    Cheers!

On the contrary I’d be willing to bet that people buy beer in all states of freshness and continue to buy it regardless of how ‘fresh’ it is. Anyone that tries SNPA, thinks it tastes crappy even at 6 months and decides to go to their local brewery knows way more than 90% of the average buyers in my opinion.

Not being mean, but I’m honesty not understanding the point you’re trying to make. Not sure if it’s the punctuation or what that’s getting me.

I think they're saying (or at least what I interpreted and agreed.with) is that anyone who can detect the decline in 6 month old snpa and is then defaulting to their local.brewer is already a pretty advanced beer consumer. Most buyers are just grabbing stuff off.the shelf, and I don't think that most people notice the flavor changes from fresh to, at least, 4 5 6 months old with beer from established breweries with solid packaging equipment.
Just look at the "how do you taste all these flavors?" Thread where people are questioning detecting specific fruit flavors from unfruited ipas
