I agree. It is maltier than what I remember it to be. It's still good, but not as good as I remember

Washing it down with some fresh Amalgamator. So crisp and refreshing. This westie never disappoints. Cheers!

I felt the same way when it was first bottled in 12 ounce 6 packs. Haven’t tried it since.

Tried the Urban Roots All Together IPA last night. Solid, classic west coast. Good malt backbone but not too sweet, moderate bitterness, drying on the finish. Classic C hop aroma with a little tropical poking through on the palate.

Wow. Is Drake’s Denogginizer a West Coast IPA? I gave it a good rating many years back, and since I saw fresh bottles at Trader Joe’s recently, I decided, “Why not?” Woo doggy! It is... well, a work in process. I’ll try and finish it.

My old review let’s me know that it was probably more East Coast style with how malty it was. But, man... I’ll just say tonight’s version is not that well balanced.

Drake's has kind of (being nice) fell way off in terms of quality. I remember back when Hopocalypse was an exciting get, but that beer is a shadow of what it once was.

In better news, we have North Park Sorta Mostly Dead, HPB Hello La, and MT/HPB How's Your Day (soon) all out or coming out. Pretty great time for WC IPAs.

I haven't had many legitimate East Coast IPA, but aren't double/imperial IPA supposed to have more hops as well as malt? Could be one reason I like it more than many standard IPA (lower on ABV, thin)

What was the date on the bottle? After a couple months the hop aroma definitely starts to fall off.

Those near a Beachwood, go seek out Thrillseeker. This batch is very exceptional. I'm normally a 1-2 4 pack at a time person but this isn't enough.

I tossed the bottle, but I’m pretty sure it was 3/26 - hella fresh!

Drinking a Port Strata Swell right now... First impression was that the aroma is glorious. It’s a really clean and crisp beer. I don’t think I’m the biggest Strata fan, but if you are, you will love this. It’s a very nice beer regardless.

Yeah I remember back when the Dnog was one of my favorites DIPA’s at the time. I discovered it around the same time as Bootleggers Knuckle Sandwich and Kern River Citra DIPA was born. Soon after came Hopocalypse and Aroma Coma. Somehow I managed to get a keg of Aroma. Man I haven’t had anything Drakes in a very long time. I’ve always want to visit the tasting room. Different times. But good times.

Drake’s has been pretty slow to jump on the can-wagon. They have been canning Kick Pack session ipa for a while, and started doing flyway pils in 19.2s last year or so. They just added Hopocalypse White Label (now called Hopocalypse Hazy) a couple months ago.

They also do a lot of one-off pint can releases, but those are all brewery only I think.

Just smashed a Double Double w/ mustard instead of spread, add grilled onions...

I’m following that up with a Beachwood Citraholic Super Citrus...

I have on my Manny Ramirez Dodgers shirt that I got back in 2008...

Sorry not sorry, but the West Side is the best side!
