Have been ordering Finback shipments every couple weeks and have been thoroughly impressed: some notes.

Six Year blew me away. Reminds me of Other Half third or fourth anniversary (can’t remember which) Touch boozy, big hop melange, thic and delicious.

Osc 20 is very distinct and unique. Not sure the hops in this one but has a belma/strawberry flavor going on.

The pilsners they’ve been putting out are straight bangers. Perfect for summer sipping.

Just brought a can of Osc 20 to the park and in transit it simply emptied itself inside the cooler. Didn’t open from the top and couldn’t find any punctures. Weirdest thing. Maybe 10% left in the can.

I hope the cooler smells really nice now.

Tragic. This beer evolving beautifully. Finback has become my house arrest beer, easy delivery, low minimum, all their stuff is killing it.

6th Anni still there, think I'll do the walk up and park beer after tomorrow.

I haven’t seen you hype something up this bad since the Cadillac Series 62. I sprung for 3 x 4 packs

It’s worth the hype. I’m now home sipping my last can and bummed I didn’t grab more.

I’m really trying to cut down on beer expenditures but the 6 year fomo is a force to be reckoned with right now.

6 year is quite good, but I'm much happier with oscillation.

Also 6 year has a lot of hop gunk at the bottom. I couldn't finish the last 2 oz or so.

Swung by today to grab the stouts and picked up 6th anny. All the praise is warranted, it's a really delicious beer and I got no boozy notes on it. I would also recommend letting it warm up; I came back to mine after an extended Lego-building session with my kid and the flavors really popped as it approached room temp.

Can you go into more detail on the Lego? What was the build?

I don't want to draw too much attention from Finback so let me start by adding that I disagree with @algebeeric_topology about Osc 20 and 6th; they're quite different beers and both excellent. In fact right now I'm giving 6th the edge. Also, my can had no sludge, but I have three others and I'm no stranger to the yellow slime.

This afternoon we added an airport and business district (skyscrapers) to our micro city (houses are like 2x2, maybe 3 or 4 bricks high). It's been great because each building takes only about 15m to create so I can quickly escape the burdens of parenting to drink beer, read about beer, and respond to questions about beer

Ok they arrived. Cracked one. I think it’s very good but not mind blowing. There’s a bit of a vegetal bite at the end which I don’t love. And - maybe this is a function of being a fully paid up OH boi - but for a beer like this I would expect a little extra sweetness.

And damn as someone else said this is thiccccc. Thicccest hoppy beer I think I’ve seen.

And I know people will say “sit on it, it will get better” (especially hazegramps - he loves saying that - [shakes walking stick] “I once sat on a case of Courage X for 14 years. I remember because I bought it just after we defeated the Hun”) - but I only bought 3 x 4 packs which means I’ll have finished them by Friday

I don’t know if six yr is better than osc 20 (too close to call) but its sure as hell better than OH’s 6 yr (although I still could be pissed off by that mask on the can...)

loving this triple. Great stuff finback!

What are everyone’s thoughts around tipping on shipping? Could post this in any thread, but putting here since I just made that order from Finback.

I think historically I am somewhat of a ***** tipper / overtipper (oh you reached over and picked up a 4 pack of a beer that costs $24 - here’s $2-3 for your troubles). And definitely throughout COVID for any pick up/delivery (delivery as opposed to shipping) I have definitely tipped generously cos I know a lot of people are going through a shit time.

But ordering beer from Finback via shipping - where to buy 3 x 4 packs meant spending the same (actually a little more with tax) as 4 x 4 packs to factor in shipping - it irked me a little that it had a default tipping option too. I ended up throwing in $5 but was just curious what others did.

Delivery in NJ is much less from our local breweries, and off hand I don't know of any shipping options (which I'm sure would be more than the $5 delivery fees). Honestly, I guess it depends on how you're doing financially and how much you enjoy that Brewer. In context I think $5 is very reasonable-enough to help (especially if others do it) but I'm guessing in the scheme of things not that much to you. Personally I've been tipping essentially 18 percent on restaurant takeout on average, and while I would say they make an effort to package the whole meal well in terms of being able to plate it after, I wouldn't consider it say 15-$20 worth of work under normal circumstances. But my wife and I both have jobs that pay just fine, aren't under any threat of layoff, are saving on daycare, and got the stimulus money.
TLDR: you're not a sucker for giving a $5 tip, but I don't think you should feel guilty if you opt not to!
