Similar to your point and this really isn’t a backhanded compliment, but Fader is great as a 12 oz can where you can forget pouring it into a glass and you won’t fuss or think about it

Had the exact same thing happen to me on Saturday. Was talking to a neighbor on my driveway for 5 minutes. I had just opened it and when he walked away I realized my beer was already gone haha

Excited to try Hopewells new DDH Lager which appears to be the second release in what is becoming a new series for them. Equanot and Wakatu hops. First release which was a collaboration with Hop Butcher was awesome.

I just ordered some from Beer Temple. Also excited to try this one.

Drinking a can right now, I absolutely love it.

Picked up Hailstorm’s Rock Out with Maibock Out. Not digging this at all. Has an odd, slightly rotting vegetal aroma and a really sharp astringent aftertaste. It’s kinda like drinking a corked super-tannic wine. My entire mouth is like sandpaper covered in 2-month-old spinach. Very, very unpleasant.

Ouch. I don’t have tasting notes to offer from memory but I had the Dovetail Maibock a few nights ago and really enjoyed it

I tried it a couple years ago and wasn’t really a fan. But I definitely didn’t have that reaction! Hopefully it was just a bad can.

That Dovetail might be my favorite this year. Just wish it weren’t so expensive! Definitely a class above every other I’ve tried.

Bad can seems to be the culprit. I’m still quite underwhelmed but the second can wasn’t nearly as bad. It was simply kinda meh, but the finish was still really dry and is the only thing that stands out about it.

Man that Dovetail Pilsner is crisp and refreshing as fuck. I can't decide between the Pilsner and Lager... they're both equally fantastic and i need to get a case of each next time I hit the brewery.

Edit: I think Dovetail are sold out of the Pils for the next few weeks.

Another convert to Dovetail! Keep em coming, they fully deserve it!

Dovetail’s Maibock is no joke, 2 4pks are gone and I feel empty!

Didn't that beer win a medal at GABF a few years back?

I know Prairie Madness won gold at GABF in '18 I think? Rock Out won silver in '17.

    Yes, but in 2017.

Glad I gave this a second go, liked this batch I picked up. Reminds me of a less sweet Hopslam in terms of texture and taste, but at a lower price point.

While I nearly always like FOBAB winners, GAFB winners have been more hit or miss for my palate. Love Alarmist's Les Jus; did not like Old Irving's Beezer.

Just looked it up. Silver in 2015 & 2017. Not sure what's up with that. On Tour's Low Boy took gold in '17, need to figure out how to get my hands on a crowler of that.

Hey! Keep your IPA nonsense out of this thread! It's not enough that these damn IPAs have muscled some good lagers off my Binny's shelf, now they're creeping into this thread?

Anyone have recommendations for a good dark lager from Chicagoland? Got a guy I’m trading with from out of state that is into dark lagers.

Holy crap! This is GOOOOOOOOD (even at 2+ months later)! Picked up the Foeder Pils and Foeder Bock at Binny's yesterday. Can't wait to see what else Hopewell does with their big wood.
