Hello PNW BAs. Looking for recommendations for beers in this style that are true to style and reasonably accessible locally (Seattle area). I no longer trade or chase beers but this style intrigues me—particularly the juicy, citrusy aspects often attributed to it. I know “hazy,” “unfiltered,” and other such terms are sort of buzz words for this style, but I’m more interested in something that’s genuinely similar to a “true” NE IPA in terms of flavor, aroma, mouthfeel etc. Basically looking for a relatively close facsimile to your Tree House, Trillium, Hill Farmstead, or Alchemist style IPA that I might find with minimal effort. Does such a beer exist? Preferably in a can or bottle but I’d do a growler fill if there’s one I really need to try. Thanks and cheers.

    Structures.

Skookum makes 'em, but generally have a bit more bite than most.

Seapine, 3Magnets, and of course, Grape Lotion are some other options.

I second the Structures recommendations from @beertunes. Fuzz was a particularly tasty example for the style. Also recommended, if you see them, are beers from Alvarado Street, Moonraker and Modern Times. If you have a Trader Joe's nearby, they might have some fresh Accumulated Knowledge from MT, a very tasty and affordably priced beer for the style. In general, the Moonraker and Alvarado Street beers are $5-6+/ can.

I've found the Ft. George beers to be hit or miss. Ruse, if available, are another good brewer of the style.

Reubens puts out some worthy ones as well. Urban Family does, but theirs really haven't pushed my buttons.

Rumors of my absence were greatly exaggerated. I’ve simply been elsewhere, doing other things.

Reubens is my go to when I need to scratch that particular itch. Skookum does a fine job as well, but is harder to find down here in pdx. Up your way though...

Culmination, especially Momentary Lapse of Reason, Sun Fade Arcade, and Obscured By Clouds, are the closest to Tree House I've found in the NW.

Mirage makes really solid hazy IPAs. Holy Mountain’s most recent batch of Astral Projection was seriously impressive, too.

Thanks for all the great recommendations, everyone. I look forward to trying some of these. While it wasn’t mentioned, I just grabbed a 6-pack of Bale Breaker Hazy L at the QFC while running errands. Main reason I picked it up was simply because it was available, but based on the reviews it doesn’t look terrible. And I trust BB. I’ll check out what the Met Market beer aisle has later this afternoon.

I’ve been working on reducing my cellar, which is mostly 10%+ stouts, barleywines etc. So I’ve been craving lighter, hoppier brews for a while. And I’ve been avoiding this style for some reason, maybe because it just seemed “trendy.” I can’t even remember the last time I had an IPA of any stripe; it might have been while watching the Super Bowl. For the life of me I can’t even remember who won that game—it feels like a lifetime ago. Cheers!

I know, which is extra weird since they haven’t made the playoffs in 19 years and Ichiro didn’t even play last season.

I'll second Ruse. Not sure of their availability outside of Portland, though. For my money they're making some of the best of this style in the PNW (and they make some mighty fine WC style IPAs as well, and just very good beer in general).

I just enjoyed a Matchless All Fluff, and I believe that would fall in this category. Tasty, too.

If you're looking in grocery stores, try Aslan Batch 15 or Silver City Tropic Haze. Georgetown Bodhizafa is good too, but not as "hazy" as those two...

As said above Structures is really good and does some distro to Seattle, but also is selling full mixed cases for delivery on their own website. Skookum is also one of my favorites and has some limited distro.

I know you're asking about Seattle area hazies, but there's a couple places doing hazies pretty well in Spokane should you get out this way.
