Good day BAs! Off to a cool and cloudy start today. Nothing planned for today yet (Mrs. Lizard is still asleep). Today's New Breakfast Beer:



Yet another very good beer from Modern Times! I wish they were available here in western Amish country. The can says "This beer is Vegan". I wonder who goes through the grain pre-malting to pick out the larvae and eggs.

 

I guess you can call it my Duvel week by now. Just discovered " 't IJ van de Duvel ".
When you get two fine brewery's working together, " 't IJ " from the Netherlands and Duvel from Belgium, you get a smooth new hazy IPA. Very worthy to be discovered. The glass is a Winking Lizard 2017 glass. (Does anyone have the 2016 version?)

 

Have a good Monday. I've been up all night again since I slept all afternoon until 8PM. I bought Euro and American Truck simulator games last night, as they were on sale for 75% off. Also got a few of the DLC bundles that were offered as well. Really fun game, I played Euro for a bit earlier in the night. My first delivery was easy, but the parking of the trailer into a spot was the real time consumer. I was able to do it better the second time. I initially had it on sequential transmission and quickly learned it was not worth the time or effort, so I changed it to automatic in the first 5 minutes lol.

Mikkeller SD Read The Room. Excellent NEDIPA. Lasting rocky head retention/thick foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big pineapple, tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, mango, honeydew melon, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine hops; with moderate wheat, cracker toasted bread malts; and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; balanced bready/grainy malts and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing resin dryness; no lingering hop astringency. Very smooth, not overly aggressive, minimal warming 7.9% or lingering hop burn after the finish. Awesome Sultana(formerly Denali) hop profile. Very vibrant, juicy, dank, and earthy hops; with a great clean wheat/oat/malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. No complaints! They certainly have done many better NEIPAs in the past, but this still is well made.

Still playing Euro Truck Simulator 2. I just got the achievement for completing 5 deliveries with no damaged cargo or auto parking. It's strangely addicting.

Founders KBS. 2018 is tasting amazing. Aromas and flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty dark roast coffee, caramel, toffee, vanilla, brown sugar, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and dark bread/crust; with lighter notes of molasses, dark fruit, oak char, and smoke. Mild roast/char bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and full body; with a very creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel. Light stickiness, chalky roast, oak tannins, and increasing dryness. Minimal warming 12.3%, zero barrel booze. Unbelievably smooth. Perfectly balanced rich malts, fruity/nutty coffee, and bourbon barrel presence/integration. I think it gets a bit better after a year. Smoother/silkier. Glad to have it year round. I have plenty to drink from many vintages.

Morning! Spent yesterday in the Black Hills. We hiked around Devil's Tower and then shot and sighted in a few of our rifles and handguns.
Today is a yardwork and beer day.
Starting with an easy drinking lager from Great Divide.

Weird day off.
Woke up at 7AM to a cool mid-30's outside, went back under the covers and slept 'til just after noon. I guess this old body needed the rest. Slowly getting around to this late grapefruit breakfast with my new French press!
