I like the intention. However, the line between racist and non-racist can be blurry. I hope that the apply whatever line they use equally for all races. For example, I hope that something someone can say about one race is OK to say about another and what is not OK to say about one race is not OK to say another race.

I find the best way to deal with white supremacists is to quietly and politely point out to them that, in fact, their ancestors were black.

    Total agreement here!

This type of thing should REALLY hit every on-line platform and all social-media...

    Cheers to this step!

    Todd,

Thank you for taking this stand. Recent events have called into sharp focus that people of good character need to speak up, speak out and take a stand against racism and bigotry. Silence is complicity.

I don't frequent this site as often as some do but I have never seen anything racist or interpreted anything as racist.

The only concern I have is if something gets misunderstood and the person is banned when someone else assumed what they were trying to say.

Slippery slope to ban someone without giving them a chance to explain anything. Unless of course if its obvious.

I just come here to learn about beer and see what everyone is drinking. Other boards out there for all the other noise.

Proud of you and the firm! Excellent statement. I have read practically all the replies so far and haven't read a contrary comment. That's a good thing too. Thank you. We are with you.

I am married to a non-white (Filipina) and she has been upset and tearful about the trend in the US typified by the George Floyd incident. In tears, she sent to a nephew in the Philippines a long email. I extract just a portion:

"...we happen to play a recording of a song by Louis Armstrong that immortalized a time in history by the mournful lyrics that is still true today as it was then.

"Here's some passages of this song that made me cry:

    "I'm white-inside-but that don't help my case
Cause I can't hide what is in my face

"They laugh at you, and scorn you too
What did I do to be so black and blue?

"My only sin is in my skin

What did I do to be so black and blue?"

    "Bill Broonzy
a genius blues singer, sings about shades of racism.
    'if you're black, stay back; if you're brown, stick around;
    if you're yellow, you're mellow; if you're white, you're all right.' "

My tiny (4' 7") wife is "brown", but has "stuck around" with this very white 3rd-gen Swedish-American for 44 years. When I married her, I knew about racism, but it was more of an abstraction to me. Not any more. I have seen it at work on my wife. Even with her tint and accent, I have been surprised at the depth of our problem here.

Thank you, Todd Alström, for deviating from the usual delightful subject here, to tackle something that is very serious and needs our sober attention. As wife says in her dialect (and incidentally is a toast when consuming San Miguel) - Mabuhay! (means"long live!")

Long overdue, I have seen people on here say openly they don't care much for Belgians.

This is a no brainer and kudos to todd for being active about it. When good men suplicate to evil in this world we are doomed.
