Here in Mass (and presumably around the country), we see a large variety of summer ales. We certainly have our favorites (Sam Summer, Shipyard Summer to name a few), but what are some others we should be on the lookout for this year as the weather gets warmer? Cheers!

Daisy Cutter is a nice ale, floral notes. Drinks nicely on a hot summer day. Cheers.

Narragansett Fresh Catch is a perfect summer ale. Nothing too imposing, but it is smooth, hoppy and insanely drinkable. Some people claim this is the same beer as their old Summer Ale, but I firmly disagree.

Sam Summer Ale is (was) my go to for BBQs and stuff. I like Oberon too and besides that Sierra Nevada Otra Vez (the Lime and Agave version, the other one is meh) also fits the bill

Southern Tier Hop Sun was pretty good. Then they changed it to Lemon Drop Sun and not only did it taste nothing like Hop Sun, it wasn’t that good overall.

I agree 100%. I loved that beer...but indeed it is not the same...and the word lemon in any beer is a major put off for me

Did you mean to mention Victory Summer Love or Yards Summer Crush?

Fremont Summer Ale, making Amarillos taste like tangerines.

It used to be Narragansett Summer Ale, but they did something to the recipe a few years back and it hasn't been the same since.

    I'll go with Carton Beach.

Normally, I would agreed with you. However, as a member of the SN Alpha Hops Society, I had a BA Lemon Rye Ale which was amazing!

They increased the contribution from Citra hops four years ago.

Huh. Interesting. If that’s the case you’d think i would enjoy it more. I’ll have to revisit someday.

Wish they’d do cream ale again.

Yeah, but lemon and rye...that sounds delightful...citrus and spice. Get in

Sierra Nevada Summerfest. Competes quite favourably with Oskar Blues Mama's Little Yella and the Trumer Pils I'm sopping on.

Sam Summer was one of my first non-AALs when I was first getting into craft, and I still love it. Is Otra Vez the one that looks like it has "stuff" floating in it? That was one of the very few beers I couldn't finish.
