Early reviews of Galaxy Pixel Density seem.... bad? @croush do you ever worry that I’m just poisoning the beers I give you?

 

didn’t open this one yet but will sit on some cans based on reviews. I had a Cross Pollination and jt was pretty good. Doesn’t drink like 10% and lots of honey aroma. Not sure I love these specific hops but will see if it all comes together in a week or two

 

Cross pollination batch 2 is a weird “beer!” First couple sips, and I honestly don’t know if I like it or hate it.

I will say, I had an old stonefroze recently, which was the HB Triple with Medusa and agave.... and there are some flavor echoes at the core.

anyways, I feel like honey is usually added to these to smooth out the hops (a la hopslam, or Pipeworks honeyed beers), and it kind of feels like this addition makes it funkier and harsher. It... sort of feels like a failed cuvée? Like, there are two completely different beverages here that were mixed together but they didn’t mix. They just ping pong back and forth on the palate. I could see the flavors blending more with a little time... or it could become awful?

I do know from acing statistics and nearly failing chemistry, if you drank 4 of these in one sitting, there’s a 3 in 47 chance you wake up 4 days later in Belize dressed as a beekeeper in a highly secure compound while John McAfee dances the Macarena.

 

Opened a Galaxy Pixel Density for science and can confirm the aroma and taste is green, vegetal, oniony and straight up not enjoyable. Really disappointed in this as I thoroughly enjoy the OG Pixel Density. Hopefully a couple weeks will do this beer good but I think it's clear Galaxy hops have a very high ceiling but also a very low floor.

Cross Pollination = Holy orange juice. Aroma and taste is great, but no real hop bite. Impossible to know this is 10% abv. Basically a juice bomb that does NOT taste sweet. I know this is going to be very popular with most as the consumer loves the juicy beer that leans more towards juice. This just isn't my favorite from P3 but I will still enjoy the other three cans. Basically, a step down for P3 is still a good beer to me.

Super excited to try Pixel Density Galaxy as I love the regular version.

Haven't had Phase Three for a while so pulled the trigger on Galaxy Pixel Density since I was looking for something new. The hop presence is definitely there but I'm not getting the hate, its dank, and maybe a little oniony if you want to go there, but I enjoy it. Definitely think it'll be even greater as the galaxy mellows a little. But hey that's just like my opinion man.

 

I agree with this. I usually agree with @croush on many things, but I was nervous when I saw his Untappd review. While I don’t think GPD anything special, I enjoy it as much, if not more than the original.

 

As long as you are drinking it with a mask on and using hand sanitizer you should be fine.

 

I wasn’t a fan of it. I hope it gets better with some time but otherwise I’m chalking it up to Galaxy having a .225 year

Terrazzo sounds tasty

 

I'm generally lukewarm to Phase Three, but I was in the right place at the right time and grabbed some Terrazzo. Clear, nice alcohol sweetness, and the hop expression is spot on (mmm Amarillo....) . I respect the hazies but this is probably my favorite IPA from them to date.

 

Terrazzo rules. Pick it up. Clean. Hoppy. Piney. Bitter. This should be a regular from them.

 

Ok, you guys sold me. Wasn't enamored with Picking Wildflowers but will give this one a try.

 

How does it compare to something like a Ninja vs Unicorn or Brickstone Hop Skip?
