Yeah saw this on Instagram yesterday where someone said it would just be owned by another family member. I really hope with the statement OH made yesterday, we don't see any of their beer there and if we do they call it out as being illegally resold. Don't talk the talk if you aren't walking the walk

I reached out to a bunch of Other Half IG accounts about it a few days ago. Matt reached back out and said they are now aware of his comments and are severing all ties. The "otherhalfnyc" account reached out saying they "do not have a relationship with them".

The end result is good, but I find it hard to believe this is the first time they're hearing about these kinds of comments, if that's what he meant. The response from the official IG account was kind of odd too, are they saying they never had a relationship with them?

Yeah seems weird, but hopefully there is a call out if they see them selling OH cans going forward

Without a relationship, I don't see how this would have been possible. They had these bottles for sale the same day as the brewery and let people to buy 2 sets vs only 1 set allowed at Other Half. Did they have a school bus full of mules who made only $4 per set for a 3 hour trip?

I can't comment on the states you named other than MD but the liquor laws in MD allow for any brewery to self-distribute into the state so they don't need to go through a distributor which would squeeze the margins and also probably upcharge to the retailer. OH drives down a truck on a weekly basis themselves (I presume - or a 3rd party) to MD. I know that in VA, where a sister location of the MD shop is located does not get shipments regularly because you can't self-distribute in VA (edit - maybe it's self-distribute across straight lines in VA I'm not sure). That northern VA shop gets Veil, Charlestown Fermentory, Triple Crossing, Etc. That and Adam is from MD and they're about to open up the DC brewery.

I’ll never get my head round all the crazy / state-specific alcohol laws in this country. So if the place is on the same side of a long avenue as you, then you’re good? But if you have to cross the street or turn a corner then it’s illegal?

My dad grew up in MD on the DC border, and back then before Feds ruined the the Amendment X with the interstate funds ransom you could drink btw the ages of 18-20.99 legally in the MD/VA/DC area... I visited my grandmother's for Xmas after I turned 18 and my uncle handed me a beer and said well you can finally have a beer. I said no I can't but cheers. It had been good while since the country wide 21 drinking age. My grandmother had moved across the border to southern PA, and holy shit on buying beer for xmas when I was 21. PA was so annoying, had to go to state store and buy warm beer by the case, no six packs, after 5pm well you are fucked, no beer for you. So now we have nothing good about the 10th, you can die in a war sober, but you can't buy some on Sunday in places.

Yeah the laws in PA get really weird in terms of buying beer to go and it being by the case. Same thing in MA I believe, per transaction you can't have over a certain number of ounces but you can walk about in and then do another transaction

From my days of hanging out in Cambridge, MA had a wired rule of places being x miles away from the next place. So in dense population areas it was only beer stores, so no grabbing a 6 pack with your milk.

State run beer stores still take the cake for absolute suck. BC, Canada had the same crap too when I visited Vancouver, ircc they cold surcharge.
