    Greetings, all.

Starting the thread with East IPA. The weather has cooled off quite a bit, which is good with me, I’m not looking forward another dry, unbearably hot summer...

    Cheers!

Have a good Friday. I slept until 3AM this time. Bought House Flipper and Cooking Simulator on Steam because they were on sale. Also Overcooked was the free game on Epic yesterday, so I got that too. I have a lot of games to work on right now. I am uploading a video game stream I made a couple days ago to YouTube right now. Took forever to process because it is 70 minutes long. Facebook wouldn't let me download 720p for some reason, but next time I stream on facebook I'll remember to record it to my hard drive too. I need to watch some tutorials on xMix to see how to use it easier.

Bell's Two Hearted. Fantastic as always. Aromas and flavors of huge ruby red grapefruit, mandarin orange, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, honeydew melon, citrus peel/zest, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate honey, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light caramel/nutty malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation, medium-plus body, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced creamy/bready/grainy malts, sticky hops, and light resin/rinds in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing lingering bitter dryness, no cloying/astringent. Very smooth/soft, not aggressive, minimal warming 7%. Amazing Centennial showcase as expected. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a nice sized balancing bready Vienna/pale malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. Spot on Midwest style IPA. Prefer the Founders Centennial more, but love both. Just as impressive as the Double as well.

Haken's new album Virus was supposed to get released today, but it got pushed back to July 10th.

Good day BAs! As Radioactive Man would say "Up and atom!" Another foggy day starting, hope to weed the garden later if it burns off.

Today's New Breakfast Beer (Review #2400) from one of my favorite breweries:

I found this a bit disappointing, particularly for the price point. Kind of gives me pause planning my next drive to TX, maybe I'd be better off stopping at Toppling Goliath again rather than detouring to Athens, OH. Either way may give me some fodder for the next NBS.

Review 9600. Bell's Vanilla Black Note. Amazing as expected. Great fluffy head retention/soapy lacing for the ABV. Aromas and flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, roasted nuts, and dark bread/crust; with lighter notes of coconut, licorice, molasses, raisin, prune, fig, date, leather, tobacco, smoke, char, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Minimal booze in the aromas as it warms. Mild herbal, woody, grassy, peppery, roast, charred bitterness; and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and full body; very creamy/silky/velvety/bready malts; light slickness, sticky hops, chalky roast, and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing bitter/tannic dryness; no cloying/acrid/astringency. Amazingly smooth/soft/silky, mild increasing warmth of 11.5%, with minimal lingering barrel booziness after the finish. Amazing balance of super rich malts, vanilla, and bourbon barrel presence/integration; with solid earthy hops, and restrained fruity yeast. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. No preference over the base beer as expected. I need to update that review as well. 4.38

Finishing up my overnight shift, and reached back into @zekeman17 's care package, for a Ralphius Imperial Stout. It were only after I had opened and poured that I realized that this beer is 15+% ABV. Hoo-boy, good morning to me and my empty stomach! It's a pretty nice beer though, and I'm kinda wishing that I had given it a year or so in the cellar to let some of the alcohol heat mellow out, but I'm not sorry I opened it (Yet. Ask me in a while  ).

some guy at work gave me this.

Trillium Hand Sanitizer Gel. 70% ABV. seems a little high for my taste but oh well.

weird format. 4oz. Smell is really hot. Strong fumes coming off this one.

it tastes horrible! Something is amiss here folks. Oily and slick. Yet a touch fruity? They really need to dial this one in more unfortunately

    cheers!

Just downloaded TES: Marrowind. I need to continue my Oblivion game though, as I was not stuck on anything. I played it for 3 hours the first time. Haven't touched it since then.

Birds Fly South Apologize Less 2020. Excellent NEIPA. Great fluffy head retention/foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big lightly tart/tangy pink guava, tangerine, orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/zest, wood, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate wheat, cracker, biscuit dough, light toasted malts; and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Mild pine, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness; and fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; creamy/bready/grainy malts; some sticky/resinous/rindy hops, and light acids/tang in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering tart/bitter dryness; no astringency. Very smooth/soft, minimal warming 6.8%, or lingering hop burn after the finish. Awesome Mosaic/Citra profile. Very juicy hops/fruit, with light dank/earthy notes; and a nice wheat/oat/malt backbone. Mild residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. No complaints. Loved the hop profile as expected. 4

Well, WBAYDN crew, here’s the additional details @LeperJim has been alluding to for...

In just over two weeks on June 20th, the end of the 400th week of WBAYDN (assume we all numbered correctly), we encourage you to join in a pseudo BeerAdvocates, Books, and Beer / Throwback Thursday (BBB/TbT) collaboration.

The rules? We figured you’re sick of rules, so no rules, let’s call them guidelines

The guidelines? I’m sure y’all get the Desert[ed] Island concept. Have some fun with it!

What if you were limited to five beers while stranded on the island? or three? Would you really want them all to be similar IPAs or BA stouts? What if the island were not tropical as oft suggested?

Ideally, you’d be able to find a couple of the beers you’d want to have to show and drink during the theme day. When doing so, perhaps tell us why you chose them.

Basically the same concept applies to the books. Finding a specific beer in two weeks to have <then> might not be easy, but you probably (maybe?) have your necessary island reads in physical form. If so, put them in with the beer you are drinking and let us know what it’s about (if not a classic we all know) and why you included it as a must have.

Anyhow, what criteria you use in determining the list is basically up to you (feel free to include it).

The ultimate goal - to encourage reading.

Nah - nothing so noble. Just something to enjoy and perhaps spark some conversations.

    - - -

Power is out, so typing this up on the phone was not ideal. I probably have 15 typos/mistakes in it. Oh well.

But I am having a beer while doing it. This beer might be in a few lists, but probably not mine:
Not that I don’t like the beer, I just have other options in mind.
