I can't get into Colorado beer...granted I haven't had Fury Road or Book of Eli, but really the last time something impressed me out there was in the early days of Crooked Stave when the Source first opened which was like 2013...and before that it was Odells and New Belgium around 2006 or 7. I find the taprooms or brewpubs atmosphere more worthwhile than the beer. Most of the stuff that impresses me is stuff from CA or East Coast I don't have access to that I'm having at Falling Rock or Freshcraft. Not saying CO beer is bad, just saying my flavor profiles are more in line with what has organically grown out of midwest flavor profiles.

Edit- and I'm out in Denver trying stuff at least once a year...

Well, it's been... entertaining, to say the least, when CO-Midwest discussions get going.
I know what you mean, however, there are 5-6 brewers in CO that are absolutely fantastic. And scores more that do a very good job. But I cannot say that I've had anything mind-altering here in CO (probably reflects my limited access to some of the big Mobies lurking around here in CO).
There is absolutely something to a region setting one's taste, palate, and aroma expectations.
    I get that...

I agree it got better with a few months on it. I had a sample while in line there and thought it was good but not mind blowing. Was blown away when I opened my last can

My brother has lived in CO for 20ish years now. In that time I've become obsessed with green chilies and related dishes. And because we really can't get them fresh here in IL in large amounts (i.e. there's no dude roasting them by the bushel in a 50 gallon drum in the King Sooper parking lot), I've taken to growing my own over the last 7-8 years. I even buy my seeds from NM State University because I'm a fucking nerd. But whose laughing in Sept when I'm smoking and roasting all these bad boys? Not this guy!

This is great information to know as I'm in Carol Stream and GE pretty regularly. Or at least was...

I’m imagining a bunch of neighborhood kids peeping at you from the hedges while you sit stoically in front of a huge fire. “is it true?” “It’s true. I’ve never seen him laugh. Not once. He just sits there, staring into the flames.”

Black Project is an incredible wild producer in Denver. You guys are crazy.

Anyways, I had my first Beer Hates Astronauts of the season. It was solid, but not revelatory. I was drinking out of a can, and it had warmed up on the walk home, so I’m hoping it is better in a proper glass.

Good call on being better in a few days. I can confidently say BHA is better today than a week ago. It’s really, really good.

This comment makes me wish my fridge wasn't Fader-less at the moment. It's beautiful out after a hot ass day.

Gotta say I really didn't care much for the can of BHA I had last night. Couldn't put it down to any one thing in specific, just didn't really do it for me.

Well shit, that's on me. I have yet to visit Black Project. Putting it on my list for next road trip to Denver. Cheers.

I thought I remember them saying they were going to release 12-packs, but now I can't find anything on it, so I must be mistaken.

Picked up BHA. Haven't had it in 3 years so wanted to revisit. Still love it, but that price tag at $17...I'm just as content and maybe even happier drinking my second 4-pack of GoneAway for $10 right now. In fact, I'm thinking of stocking my fridge full of it.

I'm with you on that, I bought a full case of GoneAway, I'd buy another, but at least in my neck of the woods its already gone away again.
