Unfortunately I think Garrison discontinued the Imperial IPA in favour of “Juicy IPA”. It’s a shame. They also changed the recipe maybe 5 years ago, it was a Greg Nash (now Unfiltered Brewing) recipe originally. Wasn’t quite the same after the recipe change so I wasn’t buying it anyway, but still miss it. Real bitter IPA are sadly few and far between on NB shelves these days :slight_frown:

I know all my SoCal playa’s feel me:

I also don’t like the new canned version of Pseudo Sue. Tastes like pure onions to me. It’s the only beer by Toppling Goliath that I don’t like now:

Bruery Melange 3. I'm holding on to my last couple of bottles hoping it makes a return so I can drink them!

I didn’t realize that. I had the Juicy IPA and wasn’t particularly impressed. The Imperial IPA I recall was a wonderful hop bomb, although this was many years ago. My wife and I went to Unfiltered while in Halifax last summer and thought the beers on tap at the time were quite good. It’s just a hop, skip and a jump from Good Robot Brewing on Robie Street. Wasn’t quite so impressed with their stuff.

For local to Massachusetts, Pretty Things is the clear answer IMO.

For nationally distributed beers, the old beers/recipes of Stone. Sublimely, IRS, Levitation, OG Ruination...

Anderson Valley Brewing's ESB. Used to drink bombers of that beer all the time

I miss getting Bear Republic here in Montana. Hop rod rye and racer 5 were my go 2s

Budweiser American Ale. I thought it was the perfect "watching baseball" beer. Chilly April, hot and humid July, breezy September, it was great at every point of the season.

I like the current stuff but I loved the shit out of SSR, Smoked Porter, Levitation, etc.

If you weren’t drinking beer in Ontario 6 or 7 years ago, this will be meaningless, but Cameron’s RPA was the best beer the brewery made and the best rye pale ale I’ve ever had. I still don’t understand why they retired it. It is still their highest rated beer on this site by .50 points (4.06 vs. 3.66 for the best on their all-time list...)

I remember receiving this in a CanBIF and thinking it was spectacular.

Another one I miss was another Greg Nash creation when he was the brewer at Pump House for a time. It was simply called IPA and only on tap at the brewpub. Later, they stopped making their ESB and replaced with a malt forward IPA called, well, IPA. Then the old IPA was replaced with “4 Alarm”, a decent but not spectacular replacement. So I guess I lost the “real” IPA as well as a good ESB (“SOB” was the name) in the shakeup.

I miss Coors. That is, I miss the mystique of having to drive halfway across the country to get it. I also miss those push-tab "thumbslicer" cans. Good times...

Boulevard Frequent Flier Session IPA: Proof of a very tasty brew at low abv. So so good.

Sam Adams Honey Porter: It went down cold syrupy and somewhat sweet. Nothing compares.

That is also a great one. Ben was making some of the best farmhouse ales. They were so good. I probably still have some bottles kicking around somewhere. He and his wife have a new project opening up in Bellingham, WA. It's called Otherlands Beer: https://www.instagram.com/otherlandsbeer/?hl=en

I was just thinking about this the other day, but my answer is Boulevard's Bully Porter. I only just recently learned that it was discontinued in the past few weeks.

Apparently the style (English style porter?) is too obscure for such a mainstream brewery. But I absolutely loved that beer. In fact it might have been my favorite Boulevard offering. It had a great bitter, roasty, and malty character to it. A unique beer in today's landscape for sure.

On the topic - does anyone have any recommendations for something that might be similar? With the caveat that it is widely available. I am in Kansas City metro for reference.

I sure miss Great Lakes Brewing Company since I moved to Florida several years ago, as well as Three Floyds Brewing. While some of Victory Brewing products can be found down here, it never includes Prima Pils.
