just for clarity to people who seem to think I saw this in LA: I am from VT and just stumbled across the previously linked review; I don't know where this store is or what it is called, sorry!

Jesus christ!!!! That's a fu$&ing rip off!!!! Dreadnaught for 25 bucks is a 150% mark up from retail and ZD at 7.99 would make it a $48 6er...thats FUKCN ridiculous!!!....and probably illegal...

For future reference, '3F' is generally not used as an acronym for Three Floyds. Just sayin'.

It happens. I have been able to pick up some out of market stuff here in LA (Surly Abrasive for $5 a can for example). Yes, it is probably more expensive but at least I didn't have to hassle with trading.

I for one like seeing the occasional non-distributed rarity around town. Peeps should probably keep this kind of thing a bit more on the down low if we want to keep seeing those options on the shelves.

I was at the brewery on Saturday at around 3 pm and they sold me 5 cases. There was a question from the cashier to the dude and the dude said ya. the dude said when traveling from far (pa) to call ahead and he would make sure we were taken care of. nice folks there. before ordering i saw a pallet (i mean really a single pallet about 12' high) of cans in the back so i felt much better walking up asking for a boat and/or truck load.

Not by much. That would be roughly a dollar more per can than it goes for here in MN. Whoever is selling Abrasive illegally in LA for that price would be losing money on it. Especially considering the cost of transporting it there.

That is nice of them. I am not sure that pallet was full cans though, as they did sell out this past Saturday about 45 minutes after you got there! https://twitter.com/alchemistbeer/status/275023277871742977

Do you think this store is seriously a threat? What are your intentions on snitching this store out?

...Threat to what? I was merely asking if HT had some expanded distribution, similar to the legal distribution that happens occasionally to Boston and Philly.

And snitching the store out? The review I linked has no details that would ID the store. Unless there is only one beer store in all of SoCal, in which case, sorry.

I am not sure where you are pulling all of this subtext from.

And you you honestly think the Dept. of ABC really reads BA to find cases of illegal beer importation?

I would drive a long way to get Some Abrasive, perhaps that is the purpose of them getting this beer, the store may be losing money by transporting beer but how many beer geeks are now coming to this shop for a chance at beer that is not and should not be available anywhere in the state?

I apologize but the truth is, people on this thread are speculating on exactly what store this is and I myself have a general idea where this store is. I just hope someone doesn't blurt out the store name. I blame the reviewer, he should have kept this to himself.

ZD is really only distributed in Chicago. I've seen it in the burbs once or twice but the shop keep told me he went to the brewery and bought it. He was charging 13.99 a sixer and I thought that was insane, but 7.99 a bottle!! That's crazy talk!!
