As far as I can make out, none of JK's year-round beers are sour; a little over half of their limited releases are.

Sours can be year round since they inoculate their barrels and don't use spontaneous fermentation. The only factor preventing them from making their sours year round is time, space and stock.

Any Funk Metal sightings in San Antonio? I needs me some bottles of that stuff right now.

Thanks for that, managed to grab it today. There weren't any other bottles out and the guy I asked seemed to think they were out after that. A friend of mine went to CM Southlake this evening, none there either.

Had my first bottle of Funk Metal tonight and its a gusher. I popped the top on one side, not all the way off yet, and it started gushing. It didn't settle until I got it poured into a glass.

With that said, holy crap this is an amazing beer.

I hope Fort Worth gets Funk Metal in the next week or two. Dear god December is expensive with Dissident, Funk Metal, Abyss and Rahr BBWW

Stanley's Farmhouse Pizza is now selling bottles adjacent to the brewery... I missed getting Funk Metal (didnt go by till almost 4 because we were busy nom'ing all the beer next door) but I got a bottle of Buddah's Brew there for $12. FM was $16. Apparently they're only open on Saturdays during tours right now. Very decent bottle prices though to-go and JK on tap.

Also there were like a bajillion ready-to-go Das Wunderkind bottles in the barrel room (the brunt of Batch 2 I'm guessing). Das Uberkind might just be the most sour beer I've ever had from them (I'd have to side-by-side with Boxer's to make that decision)... glad I got to try it.

Thanks Jeff for talking to me and my dad for a bit. He now is patiently waiting for JK in the Miami area and after the tour thinks y'all are "mad brewing scientists" lol.

To tell ya the truth... BB is more of a score right now. FM hasn't even really hit distribution anyways, so I wasn't really angry about it. Plus the beer.

Glad you liked it. Make sure you keep it refrigerated for 24 hours minimum before opening.

It really is more of a score, Funk Metal will be available almost everywhere pretty soon.

You guys have some sturdy ass bottles. When I got FM, on the way out of downtown, some asshole slammed on their brakes, and my bottle did a front flip to the floorboard, landed on the bottlecap, and never broke or exploded. Afraid to open now even after two days in the fridge.

    +1 to this!

I was at the beer store the other day checking out with a 4pk of Black Chocolate, and a bottle of Buddha's Brew. When the cashier handed me my paper bag, as soon as she passed it to me the bottle of Buddha's Brew ripped through the bottom of the bag, and fell about waist high straight to the hard tile floor, and some how didnt break, or leak at all! The store owner seen it happen, and exchanged the bottle for another bottle willingly...

I wish they would have bottled more Buddha. On the plus side Buddha's Brew is in Austin, so hopefully we'll see another batch next year maybe...or as soon as possible. Again, the label kicks ass. Need more metallic labels Jeff.

Das Uberkind's bottle was behind the bar at the tasting room and also had metallics. I think it's going to matte/metallic from here on out.

Can I just say I think it's awesome how jester king and Jeff are keeping us informed about the status of the releases. Don't know too many Texas or Austin breweries that have been keeping us as up to date as JK here on BA. Also, RU-55 and Das Uber kick ass as does FM and Buddha's. Can't wait to try FM bottled.

Austin Beerworks is the only other Austin brewery i've seen post on BA regularly. Guessing it's not a coincidence that those are my two favorite Austin breweries.

Same here... But I still love me some live oak and hops and grain. It's getting hard to pick a favorite brewery here in Austin.
